I need your thinking caps please!

We have an RV rally coming up VERY soon. There is a decorating contest. We are supposed to decorate with a red neck Christmas theme. I have NO clue, and limited time and $ to come up with ideas and "stuff". The RV is in the shop for engine compartment A/C issues. We will be picking it up tonight to re-load the fridge, and use for the rally with no cab a/c. A/C parked will be fine, separate units. The part we are waiting for will have to be manufactured, as all suppliers are out. Middle of July is projected timeline.

So, any ideas for red neck Christmas decorations? We don't drink beer, but I can probably get a few bottles or cans empty from some family. I just am at a blank. I wasn't even sure we were going to get to go, except for one day, as I am helping teach a spiral bracelet beading class, and have to be there that day. At least we will get to go, even if it will be a warm drive!

And even better...... our own Lynn_d may get to come!

Any ideas appreciated!

Tami

Outhouses and duct tape come to mind, but not sure how you could use them!

Tami, just type in Red Neck Christmas decorations and you will find a ton of them!! There's a site with at least 45 or 50. Some are cute and some are a little over the top for me. I don't care for the "religious" ones but check it out and let us know what you think!

camo is your friend! Everything camo! go buy lots of camo fabric and make everything you can imagine of camo. And preferably the camo should be real tree or mossy oak., also must have the pink camo for the women. See if you can find mounted animal heads or buy cheap plastic animals/fish from the dollar store and nail them to wood or even cardboard the tackier the better. And go to goodwill and buy caps lots of caps add camo to them. Shirts with the sleeves ripped off cut off raggy jean shorts. Must have beat up ice chest spray paint it camouflage. That should help. Google redneck weddings and camo weddings for more ideas.

Does your area have a center for recycling Christmas trees and lawn trash? I bet you could find a bare tree. Trim that with beer cans.
RC has lots of good ideas.!

A toy shotgun propped up against the RV...hang old socks with your name on them in magic marker for stockings...
play "grandma got run over by a reindeer" over and over and over....have some presents wrapped with the Sunday comics pages.

We aren't dressing redneck, just decorating the rigs. I have googled but not really found anything we can use short notice. I'll check out goodwill tomorrow and see if I can find a small tree, and dollar store too. We have regular Christmas lights, but that's normal. We just found out we would be able to use the RV for the week. We didn't think we would. So I haven't thought real hard about it. I do have my late MIL's copper kettle, so DH says he can turn it into a still. And I will have my Mom on Sunday, so won't be able to do much then. I'm very tempted to just not participate in that part, but that isn't as much fun. Thanks for the ideas. Oh, and it's the outside or what can be seen from outside that is to be decorated, not the inside.

Are you decorating the camper or a campsite?

Here is a easy to make Christmas tree that will lay flat on your camper. http://www.betterbudgeting.com/christmasornaments08/redneckchristmastree.htm

You could substitute beer cans or some other redneck drink for the bulbs. Cigarette packages would work also.

    Dead animals are always appropriate.

If you have some kind of Santa suit, you could have Santa hanging off of something. Or if you could make a wood or cardboard cutout, you could have Santa bending over with a little butt crack showing or a smiling Santa missing a few teeth.

This would be nice for your spare tire. http://www.flickr.com/photos/laineybugger/526811393/

Tami, take your ladder and set it up, add Christmas lights and maybe a few beer cans. Tie on a red bow and when you plug in the lights call it a Christmas tree :)

I'm thinking I'm thinking lol.....Hey use a red bandana or two for the bow. Still thinking hehehe...have a good time!

the camo fabric can be used for tree skirt and in strips as tinsel style, and tied in bows as decorations on the tree, fishing lures and bobbers are great for tree decorations. pine cones sprayed with glitter paint.
see link for great idea using coat hangers. oh and duck calls are great ornaments.

Here is a link that might be useful: link

Thanks for all the ideas. DH says not to bother with it at this point. Had we known even a week ago that we would be able to participate it would have been different. I may still do something, but I don't know what. I can't get too carried away, as I won't have any help taking it all down, as he found out today he will be working next weekend, so he will only be there in the evening on Saturday, and then go from work to get me and the RV unless we decide I am driving it home, which I can do, but I'm not sure about emptying the holding tanks.

I live in an area that borders as much "redneck" as you can get. There is no camo, beer cans, shotgun shells, etc" visible from the outside or used outside. What you will see is a gazillion plastic figures outside or a yard full of the inflatables that are so popular now. Nothing else really stands out.

Using some of the things that are suggested would be a characterization of the term rather than reality.

wrap the door in christmas paper, like a present...turn the tires into wreaths...use tp swags on the awing if you have one...lots of lights...

Set up an outhouse. Place a badly landed santa sleigh on the roof: the sleigh on side of the roof and the harness with a few reindeer on the other side of the roof. Santa is yelling at Rudolf, "I said the Schmidt house!"

You can turn one end of your RV into a sham outhouse using cardboard, plywood, duct tape, and poster paint.
