Should i install 2cm or 3cm Granite Countertops

So i am about to install granite countertops. i have quotes for both the 2cm and 3cm version. The cost difference is only $100, so i am wondering which should i select. What is the difference between the two and which is better.

One question, the 2 CM they quote you is single edge or double edge? Normally 2 CM is strong enough for residential, 3 CM for me is too heavy. And the 2 CM with double edging which is 4 CM thick though for looking. And about the quality, they are the same, only the edging finishing different, you can see the joint for 2 CM because it's double edging, but no joints on the 3 CM edging because it's one piece. If the price only $100 different, just consider which edging thickness looks better, and do you mind the joint of 2 CM double edge. It's very personal, I think there is no correct answer.

I would guess 3cm is considered better quality. If the cost is only $100 difference I'd go for it.

3cm will look more substantial and is more appropriate for kitchens and baths. The minor price difference makes your choice a no-brainer.

2cm & 3cm are both extremely durable options. There is not much of a quality difference between the two (except in the case where you have a large overhang). However, if there is not a big overhang, the choice is basically aesthetic. Generally, if you have a very modern, minimalist style, that individual would choose 2cm for a more streamlined look. Otherwise, most people choose 3cm because it gives the appearance of a thicker, more substantial stone.

I'd recommend 3cm. We don't typically install 2cm in the kitchen, although we do now and then for the bathroom. What is the color of your granite? I think 3cm is a more high-end look, just because its well known, at least in the DC area, that 2cm is cheaper. In our area, 3cm is the norm.

I'd definitely go with the 3 cm for all the reasons stated above. It's about all that we use here in Austin, tho I find that there are regional differences in lots of things, even granite thickness. And I keep hearing that 1 cm granite is the coming trend for ultra contemporary homes.
