Digital camera question

I was due for a new digital camera, and now I have one. I'm hoping somebody may know something about this camera: the Canon Digital Rebel XSi. I usually research purchases like this carefully before buying them, but in this case it was a gift. The problem is that I can't seem to find any detailed information about the quality of closeup photography with this camera (it's certainly not one of the top features mentioned in the reviews on Amazon), and that's what I really, really need in a digital camera--I take a lot of closeup shots, particularly of flowers. Does anybody have any experience with this camera, or know anything about it?

The facts pertaining to close up photography. It is under Macro in any photography Forum,"popphoto.com/forum, photocamel.com/forum"; and probably a canon forum somewhere. The camera, Canon, Nikon Sony, Pentax, has no significant difference what ever type of photograph you want to take. With the proper lense any digital will do the job the skill part is up to the operator. For any of these cameras you need a lense that has a close focus setting. Often called a Macro setting or lense. Want to do a lot of interesting reading then Google Macro Photography. Most camera lens in the 28/55mm range with a f1.2 or better will focus down to about 1ft which is enough magnification for most flowers. jim

    Hi JohnnieB,

IÂm planning to get a Canon EOS Rebel XS/1000D so I just happened to have this site saved! If youÂre still looking for info, you can find a bunch of it here. Just go to the Canon Digital SLR Camera Reviews page and youÂll find the camera you have there.

IÂve been using Canon SLR cameras since the mid 60's and have always been very happy with them. (Used a Zeiss Ikon before that, but I donÂt think they even make digital cameras. Have great lenses!) Just bought a new, small Canon digital Power Shot camera for sticking in my pocket to take with me!
