Are mirrors in the home out dated or can they still be used in a modern home?
Comments (2)Well everything always comes back into style. If you want to design your bedroom in a type of retro glam style, you could keep that mirrored wall. But you would frankly probably need a designer who specializes in that type of style (I'd love to do it) to pull it off. You coulds strip the mirrors, re-finish the wall and paint or wallpaper as you would the rest of the room. Simplest solution....See MoreNeed help finding out what paint effect this is and how to fix it please!
Comments (14)Scrape off as much of the paint as possible. Tap the finish around the area and see what is loose from the substrate. You might as well take care of the issue now rather than only gettiing the worst of it and then facing the same problems later in a different spot. Stucco is a tough surface to work with. Once it comes loose, your options are limited. I think you need to find a painter experienced with stucco or even a concrete guy to deal with the stucco. We use a variety of ways to try to match the surface texture often trying different old sponges. Very definitely looks like a moisture issue so solve that before even dealing with the paint. First place I always start is with the flashings, gutters and downspouts. Existing gutters may need to be rehung to get the pitch right and the downspouts may need to be cleaned. Also, look at the size of the downspouts in proportion to the gutters. The gutters will spill over if you don't have enough capacity in the downspouts....See MoreWhat color will you NEVER find in your house?
Comments (404)In 1988 I was all in on French country: medium blue sofa, white washed wood finishes and big Jacobean print on Bergere chairs and yes, I painted the living room mauve. Mauve. On purpose. I apologize. I will never do mauve again. In my defense, I never had wooden ducks with calico ribbons or a lovely print of a basket of twigs, when a real basket of twigs would do. Lol! I’ll never do mauve again... there are too many gorgeous colors to get to instead....See MoreJust purchased Foothills home now can't figure out how to style!
Comments (15)I lived in Swiss Peaks, Boulder and am very familiar with mountain living and style. Your home is beautiful! And big! You do have fans right? To bring the warm air downward ;-) Please do not paint the fireplace .... your Colorado friends will not like that. :) This is a home to grow into and as it's 2x the size of previous, I would imagine it will take some time. Warm colored and feeling rugs are important. Warm colored upholstered also. I think soft reds in upholstery are pretty with all of the lush greenery out of doors. Painting a neutral green/grey would be pretty, but definitely use bold accent walls. You'll want the color in the winter. You'll see the wildflowers outdoors in the spring and summer and want to see those colors indoors. Second photo, the wall with the sideboard I would paint a deep mustard yellow. Getting to what those neutral and bold colors are is: a favorite rug, pulling colors from. Start from something you love though and find a good colorist at a Benjamin Moore shop, see what she says when she comes to your home and hopefully you'll have a valuable relationship. I could see this charcoal wall as a warm focal area, with the antique desk. Mountain homes tend to have "log" furniture, which can be fun, especially in guest rooms and children's rooms. I would be looking thru Aspen magazines for high end ideas....See Moreweedyacres
