I have 20 child free hours next week help pick a MB color

For the first time in 8 years I will have 4 school days sans a toddler at my house, this is barring any snow storms, which in my neck of the woods, is a big if!

I have posted before for help with this room and never followed through for most suggestions involved painting the large armoire my DH shipped across the pond when he relocated to the states from the UK. The knotty pine set is the only furniture from his home land he has left and he is a bit attatched at this time and out of respect I am going to keep it as is much to my dismay.

So the case goods stay but rug, curtains and bedding can be switched but I would love to get away with just a paint color that might pull the room out of the drab zone. Any suggestions for colors that will work with the yellows of the wood and the grey of the headboard and duvet?

I love blues! Any specific ones you have used for me to sample? I used BM quiet moments in our hall bath and like it but maybe something a bit different.

is there a c2 dealer near you? I have c2 crystal (4367 I think) in my daughter's room and it's a lovely soft aqua.

I second the idea of a blue/green. Mount St. Anne is a darker hue (?) on the Quiet Moments strip. Or pick something from your rug at the end of the bed.

Maybe a more grayed color would tie in with the bedding and drapes. The room is beautiful now and will be even better with a little more color on the walls.

PS: it's nice to participate in an actual decorating discussion after all the angst of the changeover. I think thinks are improving:)

I think BM Vintage Charm would be gorgeous in there, with the pine armor, sunlight, etc.

I am going to look into C2 dealers tonight and this weekend I will be picking up mt st anne and vintage charm pots to sample in the room! So far I do love the pic of vintage charm, is it a purple/ brown?

Vintage Charm is a sophisticated purple. Your headboard would also be beautiful up against the VC, I think.

I have a hard time seeing the duvet cover. On my monitor it almost looks brown.

I just love blue, but in addition to the usual standbys, I'd also consider medium or even dark blue.

I'd look at SW Sea Salt. I think it would contrast nicely with your headboard, coordinate with your bedding and would complement the knotty pine tones in your furniture (which are very lovely, btw). We used it in our den in our last home and I loved the color.

can't seem to post a photo from the gallery...

PS I also love the knotty pine! Very scandinavian chic! There's pine and there's pine, yours is nice and aging well.

I too love dark blues, nosocceermom. I do lean towards more dark in my color preferences but am going to slap every suggestion on the wall this weekend if the lighter colors get the most votes from this forum it is what I am going with! I am going to take a chance and let GW take the lead on this project! It is only paint so I think it might be fun to put it to a gw vote and we will see what happens. I will keep taking color suggestions til friday and on sat will put up the samples for you all to help pick the final color!

I also love the vintage charm tibbrix posted and the picture nosoccermom posted. If you are open to a darker blue green, c2 had one that looked like a muted teal. Looking at their site, I think it was Inuvik Ice -c2 716.

Someone here the other day mention a really beautiful blue, Smokey Blue. BM?

I have SW Smokey Blue in a bedroom and love it. It is a dark blue gray. Your knotty pine furniture is gorgeous!

I am having a tough time visualizing most of the suggestions with what looks like a charcoal gray duvet cover. I would probably take the duvet color to the paint store and find a lighter color of gray in the same tone.

we have SW silvermist in our current bedroom and love it!

I looked up sw smokey blue it is lovely! Similar to my livingroom color I think but with more slate blue, certainly a contender.

Graywings, I am not in love with my duvet so i would change it for a better paint that works with the furniture.

Busybee, is this silvermist? If so I love it!

The duvet that I do not love has charcoal, light silver and a bluish aqua.

Roarah, I'll give you a tip for testing the paint colors. Instead of just slapping a swatch of each in a row on a wall, actually paint a LARGE amount of each around something. For instance, paint the Vintage charm around the mirror, all four sides; the smokey blue behind the top of the small chest and the picture above it; the Silver Mist behind the headboard of the frame. This way, you get a much better idea as to who the color will work actually painted in the room, up to the trip, contrasting with the furniture, etc. It makes a HUGE difference. If you can do each up, or down, to the trim, or along a door/window trim as well, even better.

Another nice purple to look at is Sleepy Hollow (BM)

I love quiet moments. :). If you want a darker blue, maybe take a look at benj. Moore niagra falls.

My paint sampling technique is to paint very big samples on drywall (score and break a sheet or two apart) or foam board. That way you can move them all over the room and you don't have splotches on the wall that you have to paint over (or look at for weeks if you end up with snow days and don't the project done when you had hoped.). And if you have space to store them, you can use them for future projects too.

In your OP you mentioned you could change the bedding... Just my opinion, but I think your bed is SO pretty, and I think the bedding distracts from the beautiful headboard.

I think I'd get solid colored bedding, maybe white or aqua or blue, or something with a subtle pattern. I think that would look great with the blue paint colors you're looking at.

Maybe silver, blue, and wood tones for your lamps, frames, and accessories?

BM Silver Mist doesn't have green undertones. It's a true blue gray. It reads a little too blue in my windowless guest bath. I was looking for something slightly greener for another bath and like BM Wales Gray and Silver Mink, on the same strip.

I really like that Vintage Charm

FYI: Vintage Charm's LRV is 16.72, very low, so it will be quite dark on the wall. Sleepy Hollow is probably a better bet. It's Vintage Charm with a higher LRV , 27. 16. I don't think you want to go any lower than that!

yes, that is silver mist probably, tho it is darker in our bedroom! it definitely does have green in it too, tho not as much as BM grey wisp(and silver sage)... it sounds like it looks like a true gray blue in may flowers bathroom, so it must be one of those very changeable colors too!

I will start with the two purples, the silver mist and maybe grey wisp and the sw sea salt and smokey blue. I will paint the big swatches as suggested hopefully this weekend. The bedding is not really a factor so I will pull that down for the final votes! Thanks. My hall is a purple, BM tropical dusk, so I am not afraid of dark purples but the silvery blue is making me think of spring which is very appealing right now...
