Authentic Reindeer Antlers in Contemporary Condo (no hunting!)

Peter MacDonald
Reindeers shed their antlers regularly. When hiking in Sweden a few years ago in some thick fog, I found this rare large pair together (you can often find small individual antlers, but these large ones, especially in a pair, are rare). I sewed cardboard together with a plastic clothesline and a nail to make a large box and carried it through Stockholm and through the airport (got some real strange looks-the boxes had bread labels on it). Long story short I got them in the US no problem!!! For my new comtemporary condo, I'd like to hang them above the fireplace. I'm not a hunter and don't want them mounted on a reindeer head. My questions for you all:
1. How should I finish them (paint, stain, taxodermy, etc?) I've had them for two years now. They have some gray spots that haven't changed since I first got them
2. How should I mount them?
3. Have you seen any places that have contemporary looking reindeer antlers hanging? My designer said this is "in" right now.
