True, if you are interested in staying very Georgian then usually they are wood doors. As far as glass on the front door...i've seen it all! depends how private your inside view is from your neighbors. i like leaded, beveled and obstructed glass. if you stick with the solid door, i agree with the comments of large cool knockers (that sounds terrible, but you know what i mean) and large kickplate. A beefy wreath will look awsome. and again the moulding around it all can really play it up. ( see william poole designs- portfolio (click on any of the designs to see that collection - he's one of my favorites for the outside look of some beautiful homes.) by the way i love that first door pic with the amazing transom. but you'll need ceilings in front hall to be a good 10' or a two story foyer for it. And if you want an idea for testing out colors for your front door. Tape to the front door, your choice of solid colored wrapping paper. Then stand back and see how it looks. if you are getting daring with colors (say magenta or bright pumpkin) buy a bunch of large scrap booking papers and back to back painter tape to get the look for your testing.

OMG I'm am laughing. All my exterior doors have antique rub bronze. All the interior doors have polished nickel with crystal knobs. For a reason, I live in an area with with severe winters and only real bronze oil rub will survive outdoor wear. It is perfectly acceptable to do this and my exterior doors are levered while interior doors are knobbed. Again, I had a spinal cord injury and I need to be able to push down on a lever when carrying packages in. Not one single person including my decorator who was in AD has commented on the difference. Go with what works for you. Design is to make your life easier not create a design prison!
