optical brighteners. Their website is next to useless for detailed info.

Yes, all four liquids do (Disodium distyrylbiphenyl disulfonate).

Use the search button. This has been discussed many times with lots of-information.

Their website actually clearly lists all of the ingredients, so I wouldn't call it "useless", quite the opposite.

I easily got a refund at Walmart. Problem solved. Back to good ole Free & Clear Tide.

I went to their website. I looked at the ingredients. nowhere does it say it has or doesn't have optical brightners

Do other manufacturers actually state optical brighteners in their ingredient list? I thought they just list the chemical names, as least that is what I encountered when I was searching. It does mean you have to figure out what all the chemicals are.

I didn't want to become a chemist in order to know if Persil had brighteners in it, hence my question on this forum. Seems some members like the anonymity of the web to be snide.
dekeoboe, thanks for pointing out to those folks how difficult it is to ascertain from the label, if optical brighteners are included.

Henkel does not say what the chemicals do - I have spent a lot of time in front of Wiki to decipher what each ingredient does. Other brands like P&G or Unilever actually do list the function right next to the ingredient.

Everyone has different sensitivities. spicy couldn't handle the Persil fragrance. I was in Target the other day, got near the laundry detergent aisle to take a look at the new Tide turbo and the fragrances were so powerful I could not stand in the detergent aisle long enough to read a label. You could smell it from 10 feet away. I don't have allergies.

Rococogurl, I smell those aisles from 30 feet away. :) good thing I am not female, because I'd never be able to go to a salon. the chemicals they use are so noxious and I'm sure they are a serious health threat to employees smelling them all day long.

spicy, I'm surprised you can stand any detergent then. My DD has a very allergic toddler and washed for a long time with Cal Ben soap as he had terrible contact allergies from everything else.

Too bad you can't tolerate the Persil. I've been using German Persil for a long time now and it's been my favorite. Plan to compare the two as it's fascinating to me that the products can look exactly the same but not be the same.

goutgrec, I don't understand your confusion. I ONLY use Free & Clear detergents. I gave Persil a try just to see if I could tolerate it despite not being F & C.
