If you have a fixed panel with your patio door unit, consider adding a living plant (or maybe not with a toddler). Your drapes are hanging a bit oddly. If you keep these drapes, see if you can reset the hooks or get a different kind of hook so the tops of the drapes are more uniform. You have enough natural light to consider hooking the tops of the pairs of drapes together and investing in some tie backs for style. the fabric need not match the drapes -- just coordinate with your color of choice. The color of the drapes seems intended to coordinate with the wide tan armless seat. In the second pic, the corner looks cluttered. Unless those are toys needed in the room, see what in that pile you might move/store out of sight. Does your ottoman have storage -- that's always a plus, especially if the top is reversible with a solid firm side for using it as a coffee table as needed. Avoid adding clutter disguised as art. Art should represent your interest and be something you value and treasure -- not just something to fill the space on a wall or a place on a shelf. With a toddler, you really don't want to crowd the room with any more furniture than you need. Try moving what you have around a bit before investing in more pieces. Consider embracing using one as an ottoman and the other (smooth top) either as another ottoman or as seat separate from the sectional, perhaps with a light in between and a matching one on the other end of the sectional: either a narrow end table with a tall lamp (thin lamp post) or, alternately, a floor lamp with shelf/table top built in. On my screen, your wall color seems to be an off white w/yellow hue and white ceiling. If you might have wanted a less neutral color but need to accept what you have for now, consider an alternative for adding color. You can get rolls of narrow trim tape (about three or four inches wide) intended for the top of wall paper that can be added horizontally to the top of the wall above your drapes and all around the top of the wall in this room. While some designs are just geometric prints or strips, others have images that might reflect an interest or hobby. One of my neighbors chose a hunting and woods theme while another chose a beach -- using the strips on painted walls rather than walls with wall paper.

Wow great light!- I see a multi function garden room / entry/ lounge/ play space with storage. I think this space will see a lot of traffic through the patio doors. You have a great opportunity to add storage for all those extras, by building or buying deep benches under the windows: either 2 separate or L-shaped that are deep - 2ft or so, (like daybed). If you have grandchildren or pets you can choose the right kind of function : open with large baskets under: shelves or drawers or even flip up top on built in box.Take advantage of that great light, especially if you have a green thumb: add tall plant stands or staggered shelving for display. A round durable carpet would complete the space.

I didn't think about all the raised edges from the stripes that will be almost impossible to smooth out and cover-up. It's like dealing textured walls. Red is very hard to coverup as it is, without super hide primer like a shellac. Op I know you already said you don't care that this is rental, but you might not want to paint above the gold. If what the others have said is true, and you will not be be able to properly cover this up, you will at the very least loose your deposit, probably be charged a significant amount to repair or replace the walls. If you don't pay for damages, this will go on your credit report or be sued, which will affect your ability to rent in the future, which you should care about. I think this the case where youth wins over common sense.
