Wood Look Tile Color

We are having the tile flooring in our house redone because of an installation issue caused by the flooring contractor when it was built in 2006. They are retiling the entry, kitchen, breakfast nook and fireplace hearth. We are considering wood look ceramic tile because the Hubs wanted wood floors downstairs anyway and I figure if they're retiling it anyway, it doesn't make sense to have new tile installed then rip it out to put wood in. He is on board with the decision but we are at an impass on color.

Here is the tile:

I like the Mahogany, he likes Walnut. The tiles are 6" x 20" planks.

Our entry door is already stained a dark wood tone (close to the Walnut)

Which color tile do you think works better with our kitchen cabinets and stair risers?

I'd go with mahogany rather than walnut.

I like contrast, so my fist thought was walnut, but I'm having a hard time visualizing. Can you take a pic of the sample below the cabinet?

If your husband likes the Walnut, ask him if he wants to be the one to clean it daily to keep it looking nice. Dark wood shows dust, scratches, footprints etc. and would drive me crazy. I want my floor clean, but not a daily cleaning.

What about the grout colour? What grout colour matches what wood product the best?

Grout slightly darker than the wood/tile color or use the darkest color present in the flooring as your grout color match.

I'm leaning mahogany. And I agree that grout should be slightly darker (or equal) in this case than the flooring.

The floors were installed last week/over the weekend and I will post photos tonight or tomorrow. We went with the Walnut; they didn't have the mahogany in stock. I think it looks nice and I'm relieved that the broken/badly installed tile is now gone. Thanks to everyone for weighing in!
