Best paint for newbie painter?

I painted an old condo way back when, but haven't had a need to paint anything in many years.

We are moving and I want to do my kids' rooms, maybe the family room this summer.

I like the farrow and ball colors, and some from benjamin moore. There is a sherwin Williams store a few miles from the house.

I'm considering painting the trim as well.

Products that are easiest for a novice to use and get the hang of for trim and walls? Price not really an object if it will help me get a better result more easily.

Since SW is in close proximity, I recommend Cashmere low luster for walls. It's on sale through May 25, and you save $15 per gallon.

For an ultra-smooth, rich, silky finish, count on Cashmere. This paint
easily glides off the brush or roller and the result is a difference you
can definitely see and feel. Cashmere is our most forgiving paint,
offers outstanding coverage and is perfect for painters with limited
    experience.

For white trim, SW Super Paint is ideal for limited experience painters. It's also on sale and you'll save $15 per gallon.

Keep the commandments; clean and dull surface, quality brushes and roller covers, two full coats of paint, and you'll do well.

Thanks! We haven't moved yet so I'll miss the sale, but no big deal. Do I need to use a primer too?

Since the walls and trim are painted, no primer is needed. If the walls are glossy, then they will need to be sanded dull. In case of glossy wall paint, sand with a 150 grit sanding screen attached to sanding pole. Vacuum dust and then wash.

Be sure walls and trim are clean. Use Dirtex to clean all surfaces prior to painting.

Wood trim must be clean and dull. A light sanding over wood trim will ensure adhesion and smoothness. Use a fine grit sanding sponge to sand wood trim.

If you wish to take advantage of the SW sale, contact the store and order the paint you need. You can choose a color later.

Agreed on the cover. Nothing worse than buying the best paint, and applying with a throw away cover. Might as well try and paint with a roll of toilet paper, when you're using a $1.99 cover and top end paint. And that goes with any mfg, SW or otherwise. You don't buy a Ferrari and insist the dealer put on 10 year old, worn out retread tires because you want to 'save a buck'.

Also, I'm not a fan of sanding walls, glossy or not. If you're concerned with a high gloss finish I'm much more inclined to prime with an adhesion promoting primer. Personal preference, but to me sanding a wall is too labor intensive for the payoff.

Sanding walls is a very easy task when done with a screen on a pole. I still do it at 64 years of age. :)

But since the walls are builder beige, clean is good enough.

When using Cashmere, a 1/2" Wooster Super Fab works great.

64, wow. you are older than me! only by a year though, and I still run a sanding screen over the walls also

Christopher, proof that hard work never killed anyone. :)
Tomorrow I'm working with a landscaping crew, just for exercise.

Fantastic, $13 for a 3 pack on Amazon.

If I do paint the trim, what brush should I use? Will I need two coats to cover cream with white?
