Are swarms attracted to established hives?

Grew up on a farm, never once remember seeing a swarm of honey bees. Since we set up 2 hives this spring wild swarms have repeatedly visited the trees above our hives. Attached is a picture of a swarm balled in a tree 30' directly above our hives. Is this a common phenomenon? Apparently the wild swarms are attracted to the scent of either our honey or the queens?
