Need Device Advice, I Want To Play Netflix DVD's

I bought a new Samsung Smart TV two years ago. I had been watching Netflix on the old Samsung TV using DVD's. I changed my subscription to a streaming only subscription.

Not everything is available on streaming. I am missing a lot of movies and TV shows. My old DVD player recorder won't work on the new TV. I think it must be using an old format.

If I want to play DVD's, what kind of device do I need? It's a really simple question with an equally simple answer, but the answer has eluded me.

Suggestions appreciated.

What do you mean your old DVD player "won't work?" Does it require a connection your current TV does not have? Does it say on the screen that it cannot play the DVD you selected? Need more info. Sometimes DVD players will permit you to change the "region" so that DVDs made for the US and other parts of N.America won't work in other parts of the world. Make sure you haven't accidentally switched the region for your player.
