HD Subway tile trim - not liking options

I'm looking to tile half way up the wall and all throughout the shower of my bathroom with the Rittenhouse Sq white subway tile at Home Depot. I plan to have a row of glass and marble accent tile between the trim and the subway tile. My contractor suggested the bullnose trim, but I'm not liking it. Anyone use anything else? The rope trim is pretty, but sticks out awfully far from the wall. Please send pictures of your similar tile installation if possible.

Thank you!

I didn't like any of the bullnose choices either so I ended up using Schluter edging. It's not tile but it's very inconspicuous.

Thanks Jerzeegirl. Did you use the HD RS tile also? Do you have a photo? Also, where did you get the Schluter tile?

I actually used a handmade white subway tile. The person who used RS subways is Linelle. You should look for her pictures.

Schluter is not tile but metal edging - I used anodized aluminum which
is very close to other metals in the room. I wanted subway tile but the
bullnose always made it look traditional and I was trying for a more
    contemporary look.

you could use a glass liner tile.

The rittenhouse line has quite a number of trims available. Have you checked out the Daltile website to see the full selection ?

Genuine Schluter trim on the outside; homemade trim on the inside:

Kind of late in getting back to everyone...

Jerzeygirl - thanks for the photo of your shower. Did you use white grout? I think the metal look tile would be too modern for my project. I love your marble sill. Was that a remnant? I'm looking to use something like that in my shower cubby. The Quartzite I picked out for my counter/curb is 1 1/4" which seems too thick for this purpose.

Sloyder - I like your idea of a glass tile liner. Will also check out a matching marble liner option. I'm going to try and attach a picture of my accent tile.

Linelle - Thanks for the pic! You are right on. The RS is very reasonable! Their rope tile is pretty but sticks out kind of far for my narrow bathroom. Your tile guy did a great job. Do you know what color/brand of grout was used? As for the quarter round, I had that one picked out and my contractor said it would look unfinished because it would be at eye level looking down at the side of it. My field tile would not stick out as far as yours.

Cabot & Rowe - I will definitely check Daltile's website for other options.

Joseph - your bathroom is amazing! Are those Graff faucets? I'm considering Graff Topaz wall mount for my bathroom. Also, how deep is your vanity? I'm struggling to figure out what size spout on the wall mount faucet is needed for my 11" deep Under-mount sink on an 18" deep vanity. Why is this so complicated??

This is my accent tile - Snow Stria with Glass from the Tile Shop. Border of 4 or 5 rows.

I used an Ikea bevelled subway tile in my kitchen but regular subway tiles in my modern bathroom. check this link out for ideas..

"Joseph - your bathroom is amazing!"

    Thanks. Mostly my wife's ideas.

"Are those Graff faucets? I'm considering Graff Topaz wall mount for my bathroom."

    The faucets are HansGhohe.

"Also, how deep is your vanity?"

18 3/4 inches from back to drawer fronts.

" I'm struggling to figure out what size spout on the wall mount faucet is needed for my 11" deep Under-mount sink on an 18" deep vanity. Why is this so complicated??"

It is complicated. Even after we laid everything out full scale, I still had to pull our sinks forward after they were installed. I would have mounted the faucets an inch or two higher probably also. Build a fake wall, mount the faucets, stack some books to imitate the vanity or whatever, but see this in real life beforehand or you may be sorry. Is that a pain? Somewhat, but nothing compared to pulling tile to move a valve.

I much prefer the sinks forward now; they're easier to use although I'm turning into Felix Unger wiping the chrome all the time.

Could not attach the picture directly to my other post. Here's a link to the tile on pinterest:

Nesting, my grout was unsanded Laticrete Smoke Grey. I kinda wish I'd picked Polyblend Platinum because it's a bit lighter. However, I convinced myself that Platinum can read faintly lilac. My tile definitely was purchased through Daltile, but I originally picked up samples at HD. Mine is Arctic White and I love it, so clean and fresh. I'm pretty sure when I do my other bathroom I'll use it again.

I don't quite get what your contractor is saying about quarter-round looking unfinished, but then I don't know what your setup is.

Joseph - Thanks for the tip on laying everything out. Thankfully you were able to move your sink forward without too much trouble. My faucet will be installed over subway tile and my sink is undermount so once installed there's no moving anything around. Does your HansGrohe have a 9" spout?

Linelle - Thanks for the info on the grout. I don't think it's too dark, but I can imagine that it's a different story standing in the bathroom.

nesting, it's really not dark enough to bother me. My tile guys didn't mix colors and I can sort of understand why not. I would just go a little lighter next time.

    nesting67:

    Yes, my spout is 9".

In the "lucky break of all time" category, I turned the water on without having tightened the set screw. The 9" spout blew off into the bowl. It bounced and clanked loudly, but amazingly nothing was damaged.

nesting: You can buy a marble sill at Lowe's, HD or any tile store and your tile installer can easily cut it to size. I got a 5" sill because I wanted a deeper shelf with an overhang. If you get it at a tile store, they even come in different marbles (not just carrara). The grout is pure white - I wanted it to match the tile (almost) exactly.
