How Do You Divide Chinese Garlic Chives?

Not looking for the perfect answer, but just how you do it.

I was given several clumps of Chinese garlic chives. I think I need to divide them. Some say to divide into clumps of 20 heads each, but some say to form smaller 5 heads each.
