Clever! Just to note: falls out of showers happen at all ages. My daughter at 5 slipped stepping out of our minimally-sized master bath shower resulting in 3 or 4 stitches in her chin. At 40 she still claims she felt every one of those stitches going in.

What's with chin's and five year olds? My five year old cut her chin open and got stitches as well. She was jumping out of the Hotel Hot Tub into the Pool and spinning to grab the cement wall. Not ten minutes earlier I warned her she would cut her chin open. Then sh did.

Now six years later she cringes when I reference this story or life event. I had to hold her head still while the doctor stitched her up. I think I felt every stitch go in myself.

John, nice work, but I'm concerned about a lack of triangulation and the plastic wall anchors. I know tradeoffs have to be made for cost effectiveness.

Would a floor-to-ceiling bar with a perpendicular extension into the wall have worked?

I still have scars on my chin from busting it on the monkey bars in the 3rd grade.

The plastic wall anchors protect the tile from the screw. The wall screws bite into solid wood as do the curb screws. Each plate has three holes and they are set in a triangular fashion. I pulled pretty hard on the grab bar the day after it was set and it's solid. My client is not going to pull it out. Not at a Buck 40 in weight.

A floor to ceiling bar might have worked in this case but would not have looked as nice as a custom grab bar. We wanted some style and safety.
