Metal and Board Open Shelving in Kitchen

Is the pipe flange that is mounted to the ceiling, the only thing holding the weight of both shelves? If so, how? Love this kitchen! It is similar to the kitchen we built, but we still lack hanging our open shelves. This would be a perfect idea!

Isn't this a fab idea?! The homeowner did these himself and he first put up a board on the ceiling and fastened that securely to the joists. Then hung and connected the pipes vertically from the board. The cup holder actually comes off from the vertical pipe that goes up into the board. We just painted the board so that it blended into the ceiling. These are just regular old plumbing pipes readily available just about anywhere! I do not know how he fastened the pipes to the board, but I'm betting there are tutorials on line for this. Good luck with your new kitchen project!!!

I love the colors! Can you share any details on the sink? Manufacturer? We're looking for an apron front sink either brushed stainless or something with color. I'm concerned about scratches on the stainless from belt buckles etc, but I guess ceramic/porcelain would be just as susceptible? Thanks! - Mark

Hello! The sink is from Kohler. It was is the Whitehaven, This kitchen is 3 years old, and the sink has held up well. There are some scratches on the bottom, but nothing big. You could also look at Elkay and Blanco.
