Is this "Blue Angel" mutating to a Guardian Angel "

I went to Home Depot to buy some compost and passed by the clearance Hosta rack. I noticed the tag on the plants listed all of them as "Blue Angels", however most of the leaves on the plants are starting to become streaked and I believe they were all mutating into Guardian Angels.

So I bought one for $2 and brought it home, tell me what you think.

So I guess I just got a good deal on a mislabeled plant. I've been wanting a GA anyway and this one is already good size, and even though it came from Home Depot $2 for a plant the size of this one is a steal.

It doesn't go in that direction. Guardian Angel is a sport of Blue Angel, not the other way around. Big box stores routinely mislabel hostas.

Also, some of the leaves on the plant are all blue. So, I guess I should have asked the question the other way round. LOL

I've heard to bring out the streaks on a GA that it should probably be in more shade than sun, unlike other plants where more sun brings out the yellow/white verigation.

GA tends to darken over the season ...

MY GUESS .... TCer is making GAs ... and a certain per cent come out BA ... a reversion .. and they grow them on.. and sell them wholesale ... but just a guess ...

you should probably remove the GA from the blues.. or it might disappear during dormancy ...

My DIL got the same deal today that you did at HD in Jackson....she sent me pics and said they didn't all look alike....Told her those have either sported or were mislabeled to start with.... She also got several real BAs...

Glad you got one you've been wanting at such a great price...:)

TCs tend to be more unstable, but I think that is said here a lot. TCs just accelerate the funky genetics which are hosta, except for lancifolia . Huh, what's that?

glosgarden, That is where I got mine as well @ the Home Depot in Jackson. Are you from around here ? I wonder if that was the lady that was looking @ them right before me I was there about 10 am.
