Mouse and Netflix new format

Most screens have many places to click with the mouse, most are labeled someway, a picture, a word, an empty box perhaps. (1) What is this area called?

I've places where the area to be clicked is away from the picture or label, probably because I prefer to enlarge everything due to visual impairment. Slate comments and some Netflix screens are particularly obvious. (2) Does anyone hear interface with Netflix since the new format upgrade?

A place where you click (via mouse or laptop pointer) to cause something to happen is usually called a "link" (especially those that take you to a different page or location) or it could also be a "program command". Such a thing that's a picture or an image is usually called an "icon". They're used because they take up less space, which allows many to be clumped together compactly on a toolbar or other command area. If there's an icon and you don't know what it is, oftentimes by hovering your pointer over it, a short word or two may appear to offer more information.

Behind the link there is a transparent click-able area, in the JavaScript, I think. My situation is that transparent area on some Netflix screens using Firefox is nowhere near the visible icon. Netflix shows me where the click-able area is. Firefox gets it wrong.

I don't completely understand what you're describing. Are you saying you've enlarged the zoom view and the click-able areas aren't in their proper location? If so, try one of two things and see you can interact better with the site:

    1) try a different browser
    2) try unzooming the Firefox view, restore it to an un-enlarged state for the purposes of making the selections you wish.

I myself alternate between Chrome and Firefox. Where a few years ago Chrome didn't always behave properly with certain page features or embedded items, today I find that's more often the story with Firefox. When I'm trying to do something on a webpage and I find erratic behavior with FIrefox, I copy the address, switch to Chome, and find the "issue" goes away. Try it.

These work.Firefox and Netflix are both big enough to work together I should think. Thanks.

All kinds of things/areas can be coded to be linking to something else, or to make some javascript run, whatever.

I had that happen one time . . . I can't remember if it was the page coding - probably was - or a browser glitch. Was it my graphics driver out of whack ? I can't remember. It was really annoying as I had to guess where to click.

When you say you enlarge everything, you mean you zoom the whole page ?
If so, does it happen when not zoomed ? That should be telling.
And does it happen on most sites, on balance ? Or just Netflix.

As mentioned you could try a couple different browsers, e.g. IE or Chrome and see if you get the same problem - just to track down the source of the problem. Also zoom them as with Firefox, see if the same thing happens.
