    A. obesum 'Flatbellate' at 8 weeks old. I am seeing some lateral buds but no signs of cresting yet:

Some more Flatbellate that are about 12 weeks (center section only):

    A. arabicum 3 cultivars: (standard) arabicum, Brazilian, and Desert Night Fork 8 weeks old:

    A. arabicum 'Desert Night Fork' at 16 weeks:

    A. obesum 'Super Yellow Maple Leaf' 16 weeks, also ready for their own pots:

    A. obesum 'Miracle', produced 3 variegated seedlings. The caudex was pink for quite some time. These are 12 weeks old. For some reason I cut the 3rd seedling out of the photo.

wow lol, thats a lot, and they all look good, my ko seeds is all 31 days young, whats the Brazilian arabicum, i didnt see that in auction

Thanks for the compliment. I know I have a lot, I keep sowing more batches just like you. Your seedlings all look healthy and stocky.

The arabicum seeds I bought directly from Mr. Ko, not through auction.

lucky, i asked him last time when i was bidding for his seeds, he told me only auctions,

yea i keep sowing lol, i think i killed tons already for the sake of my experiments lol,
  • 9 years ago

I'm itching to put them out in the sun, but am too worried about pests invading them and then bringing it back into my house. A small invasion could be devastating on my tiny crops.

what i do with mine, put them on the sun and before i put them back inside i spray them with a flat base hose to rinse of, its kinda harsh for them but it works for me
  • 9 years ago

your flatbellatte look like little angels from the side.

Jericson, you posted "lucky, i asked him last time when i was bidding for his seeds, he told me only auctions" did you mean for that specific type he only does auctions or that he only sells all his seeds through auction?

i mean lucky for tracy, that she was able to order directly, i have to win mines in auction
  • 9 years ago

I understand. Wasn't aware if he had a site or not. I think www.adenium.com.tw is his but I'm not positive.

its his, but im not sure how to order, i tried to email no response, but when he replied in ebay and says only auctions
  • 9 years ago

I also emailed him asking for more information on how to order. I know he won't respond until at least Sunday evening (Monday his time) because his translator is off on the weekends. If I happen to get a response with specific directions I'll post them here.

Thanks, Nick. He does only post about 40 cultivars on eBay, he has many more than this on his site, check out his seed lists. Plus when you order directly you can purchase larger batches, such as 120 seed instead of only 15. Someone mentioned that he was moving his nursery earlier this year, so he might have temporarily stopped direct sales during the moving period. Hopefully you will get a response and can buy directly from him. I have had consistent results when ordering from him. He packages it properly and includes the required documentation every single time. This helps to eliminate the chance of your product getting confiscated by customs.

Yes, Ko is an amazingly honest and caring grower. I purchased seeds on eBay from him many years ago. Well, the seeds came and they had sent the wrong order to me. I contacted him and said I would send them back and he could resend my order. He told me to keep them and sent mine off. Only to have each order with a gift of 5 seeds of another variant.

Rinoa is also one of my favorite sellers. Impeccable.

So nice to have these trusted people making these available to us.

Here are a couple of my favorite Somalense's from that batch. The first one is ready to go to a 2 or 3 gallon fabric pot. Many of the obesum from my earlier replies have been sold and given away. Also including another favorite Somalense from the same seed batch that received a 2nd place ribbon in a recent show.

Good looking seedlings everybody, I don't have any to post, but enjoying every bit.

Per Jane and Horrie's request I have assembled a few update photos of KO seedlings.

First is an obesum 'Miracle' with a fat caudex but I have it buried so it will keep growing.
This was one of the Brazilian Arabicum with dark skin.

Here is one of the variegated Miracle seedlings.

Jericson did the one continue to crest? Update pic?. Anucha has grated but they are on such tall stock. I like these trees.

Tracy how did the A. somalense twins do?

Marica when I removed them from the seedling tray they came apart. They lost touch. They don't write, they don't call. I'm kidding of course. They got mixed in after separation.

These others I've posted, tall and lanky. I'm waiting on blooms only then they are getting cut down! They have nice caudex formation and many branches. The only reason their apex is still moving northward is so I can find out what kind of blooms they have.

Jane and Horrie, wanted to share one of my new seedling blooms. This is one of KOs seeds eBay61 is a yellow cultivar. This seedling is going to be yellow too although I don't expect it to look just like the parents.

Tracy, congrats on your yellow buds!

A kind word of advice: do not bury the whole caudex, only the roots. Above-ground caudices will certainly begin to rot if buried.

These are two seedlings started from seeds of Adenium_Ko (Ko Chi Lung) of Taiwan.

These plants bloomed a couple years ago. These are from earlier hybridization of Ko's.

This first one: Parent (as per Photo for seed purchase) Second: Seedling

    Seedling:

    "Excellent Lover"

Seedling: Sure second bloom would look much different. Seedling expired.

Oh that's beautiful Christine! Thank you for posting :) it gives hope to newbies like me!

Christine, lovely flowers! Did you prune to induce branching? Love the plant tooo.... My seedlings are around 6mo single branch, was wondering do i trim to induce branching ....or let it flower before i go pruning;)

Gorgeous plant and flowers, Christine, and excellent result!

    last modified: 8 years ago

Shimolee , this one hasn't been pruned yet. I tend to pinch the ends around 3 months old if the seedling isn't showing signs of branching. You can pinch at any age but I have found for older ones it can delay flowering. That's why I try to pinch around 3 months and usually get first flowering within first year or sooner.

    Hi everyone!!

Would love to see some updates. Anyone got Flabellates which actually crested?

    Maria Elena

Here are some of my 4 month old KO obesum seedlings ... They self branched (not pinched) at about 2 months old!! Really nice.

I have some Flabellates, as well, but they have not crested yet. I understand only a small percentage of them do ... Is this your experience?

    Maria Elena

    What does crested mean?

Hi, Manda! A crest in a plant is like a cock's comb. This is the crested Flabellate we are speaking of:

Adenium Flabellate "32 KO_Red Flabellate" · More Info

Here is an altogether different succulent, my Euphorbia lactea cristata, also crested:

Oh, ok. I think I understand now. Thank you, Maria!

If crested is the same as zippering, it's very difficult to get it to come true from seed. It's possible but low percentages. So they are more often grafted. They are also usually very difficult to get to flower.

    Grafted plant from Adeniumcenter

    Mr.KO adenium seeds review.

I ordered 32 different kind of Adenium seeds from Mr.KO. The seeds arrived a month after, it is OK. Most of the seeds were very small, some of the has only husk. Soaked them right away on 28 C. After few ours rinsed them and put them on moist (not wet) non treated paper towel on 30 C. To cut a long story short, after 14 days the results was devastating! Only 38 seeds of 480 germinated! Note: I saw, raise and form Adeniums for over 14 years, right now I have over 2000 from age 1 to 14 years old, on special setups for overwintering. So can say I have some experience. Wrote a mail to MrKO about the results, with pics and a precise number of germinated seeds by species. After 10 days, no answer, no any sign of respecting their own policy about low germination resending. As far as I concern, I am very unsatisfied with Ko Adenium, and their way of doing business. I do NOT recommend their seeds and trading with them at all!

  • last year

They do not answer to email I send with a complain about quality (germination rate), neither in the chat on their site, neither on FB message. This is a heavy fraud!

  • last year

they were much better before the plannedemic
