Large Pots at Lowes

If anyone is interested, Lowes has their 20x20x16" pots on sale for $4.99 each. At my Lowes they have them in a variety of colors and have about 50 in stock. They are not available online but are limited to stock on hand.

Thanks for the info --- will check to see if our Lowes here has any kind of sale like that (doubt it though).

Hopefully they will. I discovered them by looking online to see if they had any sales in the garden department. I called our Lowes to check and they told me it was all Lowes so I'm make the rounds of the local ones tomorrow to get several in the same colors.

Anyone have a photo of what the pots look like?

They have them in several colors, a turquoise blue, hot pink, yellow, red and what they call a purple which to me looks more like navy with just a touch of purple tint. I just bought 20 of those and think they will look real nice in the ghetto. Dear sweet husband looked at them and said I guess the fall order you are working on just grew! Little does he know there are still two Lowes I didn't go to!

These will work for some of my minis that need bigger pots next year and some of the cuttings that are in two gallon pots than need to size up.

Watch the drainage holes. They need to be drilled out larger or they will block. I've already encountered that with them in other gardens.

I always drill eight to ten 3/8" holes in every pot I plant. Their suggested holes aren't sufficient. I have several of these pots already and my roses are growing and flourishing. They seem to like the pot just fine.

I'm so glad you posted this! Stopped at Lowe's on my way home yesterday and got 4 each the dark blue, turquoise, and red. I'm going to get some more of the blues and red and maybe some of the green ones. I had purchased two large pots at Walmart a couple weeks ago and they were $30 each. I'm returning them as I can get 12 of these for the same price as those two.

When you get ready to put the drain holes in do not try to punch out the little circles. Use a sharp drill bit and slowly drill holes in the bottom without putting a lot of pressure on it. All of the bad reviews were because they cracked the bottom trying to put the drain holes in. You can drill in the little circles they show. I usually put 10 or so 3/8" holes in the bottom.

So far they seem to be very sturdy and hold up well. I've been using them about 4 years for my multiple different flowers and haven't had problems with them cracking so far. I figure at $5 each even if I have to replace them every couple of years it is still a good deal. They are plastic though so I wouldn't try to pick them up more often than you have to.

And they are pretty colors! I think these are cheaper than if I bought spray paint for all my black ones

For me spray painting was a disaster. Even the paint that says it is for plastic scrapes off. I spray painted some pots last year and they look terrible. Every time something bumps up against them they scratch. I'm threatening to take sandpaper to them and get the paint all off.

I made dh pick up 2 dozens from Lowes after work, then realized they're HUGE! Does anyone know how many gallon the pot holds? Do you add filler in the bottom?
