Does anyone have experience with or advice on KitchenAid appliances?

We are remodeling and trying to decide on appliances.

I am leaning towards KitchenAid refrigerator since I liked their size (counter depth...smaller than most in depth), and mostly good reviews.

Dishwasher seemed comparable to Bosch, so I could go either way there,

But I cant decide on the range. Definitely want a slide in induction and although I have seen Bosch in stores, I saw pictures on a retailers website of a brand new KitchenAid slide in becoming available in Sept. Is anyone familiar with the KitchenAid freestanding induction that's currently on the market?

Help....my head is spinning from reading reviews!

Before my recent kitchen reno I had mostly KA appliances. We had long before replaced my KA dishwasher. It had broken twice and we finally decided to replace it with an LG. But for the reno we bought a Bosch dw and I love it.

My KA fridge was not great. The dispenser unit broke within the first three years but I couldn't find anyone who could fix it. They all said it was cheaper to replace it. So I lived with a broken fridge for about four years. Replaced it during the reno with a Sub-Zero. LOVE.

My KA double wall ovens were very good. Absolutely no problems. Same with the five-burner gas cooktop.

Good luck. I hope this helps.

The new home we bought eight years ago had all KA appliances. We brought with us a KA SxS fridge that was 14 years old this year.

Microwave - No problems at all.

Oven - The self clean problem hit us after five years. Replacing the thermocouple was very easy but we are still leery. The oven has worked great otherwise.

Dishwasher - Replaced one of the tensioners for the door as it was making a squeak that really bugged me. The DW has worked perfectly.

Five burner cooktop - Not a problem and suits our needs.

Fridge - The original fridge had one part go out after 11 years. At 14 years, it started to make some noise and we wanted to try a CD due to the location of the fridge. We bought another KA SxS (KRSC503ESS) and have enjoyed it. My wife did not like the french door of any manufacturer and this unit was nice as it was shallow but still had decent space inside. We had to order this as it was just released. So far, so good but still too new to speak to its reliability. I do notice a lesser quality over the one we had for 14 years but I noticed that with all of the fridges at the same price point.

I purchased the KA Architect II full depth refrigerator/freezer with in door ice maker a year ago. I am very happy with it. The interior is a beautiful grey with LED lighting. Very futuristic. I can recommend it. I liked the arrangement of the drawers in the freezer. You end up with three drawers. Very useful.

I did have one issue with it that was covered under warranty. The rubber gasket around the freezer drawer has a known issue. It will allow frost and ice to build up along the gasket and into the freezer cavity. I called while it was still under warranty. They were very responsive. The service tech applied a bead of specialized silicone caulk in a matching color in a particular spot along the gasket. Problem solved. No further issues. I was fortunate to have a professional warranty tech that knew his product. That was immensely helpful.

Apparently, all Whirlpool products have this issue. Fortunately, the fix is pretty simple.

I really like my Bosch DW. I have a number of them through the years and they are a dependable products.

I do not recommend kitchen aid induction. I have a cooktop and its performance is not great. The large burner in the center doesn't heat up entirely, and it's just generally doesn't perform as well as the kenmore that I had before.

The only KA appliance that I have is a Counter Depth Side by Side fridge that I purchased in Oct 2006. At the time, it was the largest CD I found find at 24.5 cu/ft and 72" tall instead of the standard 68-68". The only issue that I've had with it is the ice maker motor has gone out on it 3 times and was replaced under the extended warranty. The last one was put in a few years ago before it expired and is still working. Other than that, the ice and water dispenser work fine, though not a lot of space for tall glasses, and I've had no issues with it cooling or the compressor, which is what's most important.

But if I were to buy a CD today, I'd look at getting a French door may model, such as the GE Profile, LG, or the Samsung 4-door that recently came out.

Thank you fauguy, I also thought about the GE Profile, but the KA has the best depth (26.75"). LG, and Samsung scare me down the road as I've read reviews etc. about lack of parts. Many people in my area do not service either brand due to this.

I do have a LG French door fridge (just over 2 years old). It has been fine and I am happy with it except the ice machine clogs up a bit now and then. We have had very humid weather lately and that may play a role in the cubes sticking. It keeps things fresh much longer than my previous fridge. I am amazed, actually. Haven't had to call a repair guy yet (fingers crossed) so can't say what the responses will be like.

I have heard that the thing about Samsung being made elsewhere and parts hard to get is an old tale that was true but not so anymore. Now there are lots of repair centres and parts are stocked in North America. I don't have any Samsung appliances, so can't back it up, just what I was told when I was shopping around.
