Help me decorate my master bathroom!

I want to keep it clean and uncluttered, hoping for an "ahhhhhh" feel when I walk into this room. There will be a white plantation shutter on the window between the shower and counter, and the glass blocks over the tub remain, of course, unadorned. I don't care for a lot of clutter but would like a couple of pretty (matching) soap dispensers next to the sinks, a tissue box cover, things of that nature to go on the counter.

The first items I'll buy for this room will be towels. I have no idea what color though. What would you choose?

I'd also like to have a little chair or stool to sit on. What do you think about the ghost chair shown below in the space beneath the window that will be shuttered? The chair is 35.8" tall, 15" wide, with a seat height of 19".

You are well on your way to "aaahhhh" already! I think I would prefer a small upholstered (leather?) ottoman in that location.

Thanks, jewel! I'm usually not big on metal wall "grilles", but I really LIKE that one. It's very cool.

Delilah, thanks! I'm leaning towards the ghost chair because I think it would tie in with the sparkle in the glass block. Whatever I choose, I can be certain that this little booger will make it hers (she LOVES being wherever the water is), and I'm a bit concerned about the effect her claws will have on everything - leather, fabric, AND ghost-stuff.

I like the thought of blue towels. I can't remember when I last HAD blue towels, and I'm pretty sure I've had just about every color under the sun at one time or another.

Well, of course, she will own the entire house, as it should be! Do they make a ghost ottoman?

I'm a HUGE fan of ghost chairs! I put one in each of our his/hers walk-in closets. They are fabulous because they give somewhere to sit without visually cluttering the space. The thing I like about them in your bathroom is that because they are acrylic, they're virtually indestructible. You don't have to worry about splashing water or the humidity on them. That's something I would worry about if you are putting it between sinks and the shower like you're suggesting. I have never owned a cat, so I don't know what the claws would do. If you get replicas on Wayfair, if she does mess it up, you're only out like $80.

I agree that something lower would probably fit the shape of the empty space better, but I think you would regret having any kind of upholstery in there--cat issues aside.

Another option would be a garden stool. The humidity and cat couldn't hurt it at all.

In terms of towels, I would do white with wedgwood blue hotel stripe. I don't buy any non-white towels anymore. Seems the colors always change over time.

DH likes the ghost chair too, so I just went ahead and ordered one from Amazon ($69, free shipping - can't really go wrong even if I end up using it in a closet! ;-)). It should come height-wise to just under the windowsill and is narrow enough, I think, not to impede the shower door opening. CF, I really like knowing that they are impervious to water! It's a pretty small chair, but should suffice for the perching I need to do when I pluck my eyebrows, curl my lashes, take off my smelly running shoes - y'know, girly stuff like that. ;-)

I'm a little concerned with the reviews saying that these chairs have a slight purplish cast. Then again, my granite has some maroon-purplish splotching throughout, so maybe that's not such a bad thing.

Oooooh ... those white towels are gorgeous. Very spa-like indeed! Thanks for the link!

Post pics when it comes in! Also, you have a perfect ledge on your bathtub to do some really beautiful styling with bath products.

Oh, that granite ledge next to the tub? Yep - see aforementioned Penny. I am certain that will become her PRIME real estate when we move in next week. Honestly, I have never had a cat who loves to be near water more than that little gray girl does.

You're moving NEXT WEEK? How excited you must be...or stressed?

White towels, as luxuriant as you want. But I also think an upholstered stool would be pretty. I would link one but when I googled, so many nice ones came up, that well, I could not choose one.

Twisted Jacobean spindles are my favorites. But Nate Berkus has a lovely (out of stock) square one....

I just ordered towels. DH once again reminded me he is adamantly anti-white towel ... he does most of the laundry in our house, so as much as I'd like to have white towels, I defer to his wish that our towels be colored. He fears never being able to keep the white bright enough. I did order fairly LIGHT towels, though - a silver-blue. I hope these will be as pretty in the room as I've got them pictured.

Also, I don't know that I'll have the right space for this painting, but I'd love to use it in the master bath if I can make it work. I thought about over the tub on the wall to the left, but the placement of the towel bar there may make it awkward.

I found this in an antique shop in Suffolk, England. The tag indicated it to be a print and I paid the equivalent of $45 for it, but when I removed it from its awful original frame, I realized it is an original painting. It's a scene from St. Ives in Cornwall and is very special to me. Forgive the glaring reflection from the glass.

My ghost chair arrived yesterday! It's small and like its namesake, pretty much invisible, and I love it! It's the perfect place to perch to put on my makeup in the morning. (Or rid myself of chin whiskers, whichever is more truthful on any given day.)

Now, to get the paper shade replaced with the plantation shutters that are on order. I'm so looking forward to that!

    :-)

Congrats! Almost invisible but perfectly functional!

I think a plant would be nice in there. It's always nice to have some greenery and something living in the room.
