remember, along with water noise you are also going to be creating pump noise. just a heads up. the fountain may do more good placed at a distance from the deck and having more splash.

Had the same situation where I used to live. Nothing works better than a barrier, preferably concrete to deflect the noise. I don't think the fountain will work. It will just add more noise

nnigrt - thanks yours. my plan is to place the pump in the 55 gallon drum which will be submerged/buryed into the ground. Deck floor is 9 ft above the ground

Beverly - barrier not an option so have to try this or just install speakers and blast Nirvana

Highway noise is the WORST! I'd rather be under a flight path or next to train tracks. Ozzy Osbourne is an acceptable substitute for Nirvana.

Things fall off of airplanes, like blue ice chunks! (although that was before suction toilets were invented). Ok, now back to the design....

Reviving this thread, was curious how you managed to deal with the noise. Any pointers?
