I think the mcm classic Saarinen( or one of the knockoffs) round white table would be perfect there. Or any of the other color tops...black or wood would work well, too, with your decor. I love the round bases instead of legs on this type of table. Check out Room and Board or Design within Reach for inspiration .

A rectangular or square table would look too boxy.

I think I would prefer a round end table at the end of the sofa with the arm, and a rectangular coffee table. Something like the Moebius end table, and maybe this coffee table (Trica "mix it up"), which can be configured in many different arrangements and sizes.

I think a very simple lucite cocktail table would fit nicely in your sesting area, and would not make the area feel hemmed in:
