Painter's adhesive on newly refinished floors!

We haut recently have our floors refinished with a water-based product (Bona Traffic HD). We also had our whole condo repainted. The painters used some sort of adhesive to hold together the paper they laid on the floor. Now, there are streaks of adhesive left all over. I got up some of the smaller areas with rubbing alcohol, but that took a lot of time and didn't work on the area with a lot of adhesive. What can I use to remove it that won't damage the finish? I'm wary of products with petroleum, like Goo-Gone because I've read that oil is an absolute no-no on wood floors. I know this isn't exactly a design question, but was hoping some of the pros might have run into a similar problem when remodeling. Thanks for your help!

It's the painter's problem. Why are you even worrying about it? Call them back.

Don't pay the painters until they clean your floor. How unprofessional. :(

The first people to ask: Bona. The other concern I have is that not all of the photos are showing "adhesive" concerns. There appears to be another contaminant on there. Most tape produces a straight line (like a ribbon of tape). Some of these are blotchy...like paint or gum.

Call the painters and ask them which tape they use to hold down their drop sheets. If it is NOT low-tack tape (ie. painter's tape) then feel free to let them know that hardwood floors REQUIRE low-tack painter's tape. All other forms of "tape" can and will remove the finish off of hardwood floors. Let them know they have been "lucky" this time...the finish is fine but the adhesive left behind is their responsibility. Let them know that they are lucky they are not paying for a FULL refinish....'cause that's the level of damage most tape can have on polyurethane. Even a good one like Bona Traffic will damage with tape.

For this reason, we like to see walls painted before floors are finished...if it is possible.

Bona will let you know what can be used...and when.

I would try the Bona hardwood floor cleaner with a dry pad mop. I do know that a blow dryer on low will remove adhesives and stickers.
