Sliding Patio Door - Brand and Price

I have an opening for a standard 6' sliding patio door. I have a few people who highly suggest the Pella with internal blinds which I priced at about $3,700. I found Andersen without the internal blinds for about $1,700 and then I look at Menards' brand called Mastercraft which actually has internal blinds for only $1,200 to $1,500. A family member told me they wished they spent the extra money for Pella, I don't think they realize the Pella is about 4 times the price. I was hoping to find out from those who have used some of these sliding doors and hear input and opinion. I am sure Pella is superior to Mastercraft. Is its superiority in insulation value, or just overall quality? Are there any other good brands that have internal blinds? I just dislike sliding the door blind out of the way to open the door. Maybe there are some modern patio door blinds that are sleek and work well?

We like the Anderson 400 series because they have wide rails and stiles, look and feel solid and work well. I don't know if they have an option for internal blinds but to me, that would be a secondary feature after buying a quality door that works and seals well. Just because the Menard's brand is less money is not a reason to buy it. Doors are too important to let cost be the only decision maker. And they're not something that you will change out or upgrade in a few years after the initial build is over like you could with carpet or even counter tops. Cut corners elsewhere if need be is my advice, but you have to do what feels right for your house.

This 8 ft Andersen sliding door was original to our lake cabin which has been added on to several times. The original is about 40 years old and the door still works like its new. I would seriously consider th Andersen without the blinds.

I will definitely check into the Andersen more to get better ideas on pricing and style. That looks like their pre-finished style that has smaller styles/rails than their frenchwood.

I don't know Nic. But I know it's old and still slides really well. And the double panes of glass are crystal clear. The door is original to the cabin. I'm assuming Andersen quality is still the same on their sliders as it was back then.

I have an Andersen sliding glass door that I don't like and have had issues with it since it was installed in 2007. Sorry, I don't know the model name or number. And recently I was doing work on the house to get it ready to sell, and had contacted Andersen to get 2 French doors repaired, and it took forever to get someone to come and fix their products. I complained a few times to them that they needed more local companies available to fix their products ... or why would I ever want to buy their products again.
