I'm doing a major remodel. Due to the fact that my patio door is a focal point to my entire first floor, I'd like to replace my older sliding door with a french in-swing hinge patio door. The current opening is 96" wide by 96" tall. I need to find a good retrofit hinge patio door. I see that my options are limited to double door with two sidelights on each side. I priced out Andersen 400 series at Big Box stores, the cost was over $8500 with installation. I priced out just the door without installation at a wholesaler that sells to builders - price was $4600+ tax. What are my other options for buying in NYC? What's the brand that gives the best for the buck? I know I can get a retrofit Jelwen, Masonite, etc - but I'm wondering if you guys can help me find a great alternative to Andersen and Pella that has good quality, great price and a good warranty.
