Anyone use organic soil conditioner as a mulch?

Over the years, I have used an organic soil conditioner to augment my heavy clay soil. I then have used a black wood mulch over it. It occurred that maybe use of the soil conditioner would be sufficient. Anyone with experience or whether this is a good or terrible idea. Thanks!

Since most bagged soil conditioners are bark-based, it should make a perfectly fine mulch.

"Soil conditioners" are organic matter. Mulches are organic matter. The only real difference is in the labeling, and maybe the cost. Material sold as "soil conditioner" could be used for mulch, if the price is the same.
