Thank you everyone for the wonderful advise. This room is the "catch all" for furniture that had no home:) The room was fully renovated meaning new lighting, new floors, new baseboards, trim and the replacement of the window with a sliding door onto the deck. my stepson and I arranged it together with what we had and tried to incorporate as much of the "sports" as possible. My stepson goes to school in Vancouver so his room has turned into the "guest room" and where my husband works when he works from home. We are planning to redecorate this room properly in the next year or so. I am very grateful for all the suggestions. I am also thinking of making this room into my 16 year old son's room since he spends more time at home than the rest of the children as well as the fact that this room is bigger than the one he currently has. Nylon is usually considered, overall, a superior product to polyester. However, some of the newer polyesters are very good. In a bedroom, normally polyester would be fine. Since you say that this is a rather high-traffic area, however, the main thing that you will want to take into consideration is the construction in conjunction with the fiber choice. A good polyester will be better than a cheap nylon. Polyester typically doesn't have as good a crush resistance as nylon, but that might not be an issue at all in a bedroom, since you will probably not move furniture around. Be sure to take a look at the ratings on the back of the samples. Had I not spent so much time on here reading what others had gone through, and the advice from the pros we would have gone with Lumber Liquidators or Home Depot and who knows what would have happened!! We were very much in awe of the BellaWood's 100 year warranty thinking that it must be the best flooring out there to have that long of a warranty. My husband came across an article saying that the reason LL went with that was because HD's Millstead brand had increased their warranty from 50 years to 55 years so they needed to beat it. Before you know, we're going to be seeing 500 year warranties, but about all it includes is the wood. They'll be guaranteeing that it has real wood in it, and that'll be it. It really makes you let your guard down, and stop thinking critically. This has been a very eye-opening experience for us. I think we'll start this in May when my husband has 3 weeks off. He did order his nailer and 2 boxes of nails--anything for a new tool :)
