Hookless Shower Curtain Rave!

last modified: 10 years ago

I was so pleasantly surprised by the quality of this shower curtain :) It's called a "waffle" weave. It's a color on color black/lighter black. Nice heavy fabric, a sheer (gray) panel on top to allow light (since someone poo-pooed my idea of adding a waterproof recessed shower light). Nice button on fabric liner included and already buttoned on). I needed something plain and "man approved" I know he'll love it since he always says, "if you like it, I love it" :)

I ordered mine from BBB. They didn't have it at my local-ish store so I had it shipped here.

I am not seeing the picture. Is it just me?

I didn't include a picture Nancy. Here is the link to bed bath and beyond for the hookless shower curtain. I love how heavy the fabric is and how nicely it hangs as it's pushed to one end. Understated elegance.

I thought you might be talking about this one. I have seen it in person and liked it a lot. As someone with cervical vertebrae issues, I thought it would be better for me because it requires so little "looking up." Unsnapping the part where you wash it is right at a workable level for me.

Monicakm, may I ask how well the curtain stays open, pushed toward the middle? I like to leave both ends open to dry out the bath. Does it "want" to straighten and stretch out again? I am STILL planning our bathroom remodel (going into my third year, now waiting for my contractor to be free) and am trying to decide if I want to deal with glass for the first time in my life or stick to the shower curtain hell that I know. Does this curtain billow more or less than the standard nylon liner does? I am doing a 34 (or 36) by 60 shower receptor and solid surface walls. So I could sew in some extra weights if I need to. Decisions decisions!

Zookeeper, I wonder if it's still patent protected. I saw them for sale on Walmart.com

nancyinmich, I've taken some photos. It stays open very well. Much better than anything else I've ever owned. PLEASE don't try to put it up yourself. It says in the directions it's a two man job. I wanted to surprise my husband so he could have his first shower when he got home from work. Not a job for a non "superwoman" like me :o with spinal injuries and MS weakness...but I did it, FINALLY! The fabric is substantial. When pushed to the side (or in the middle) it's folds nicely and stays put. I've only taken one shower in it and didn't have to pull it (the liner) off my legs once :) And being a shorty, I too like the fact that the buttoned liner is within reach. It comes in a few
different sizes. The rod I have is the curved rod (also from BBB).

You can see the listello thru the sheer at top

Look how nicely it stays back

Didn't want anyone to think those dark deco tiles were just black.

Pushes together and stays nicely in the center too. The liner dries really quick. Directions say to lightly shake it after use.

Monicakm_gw, thanks for the pictures, that was helpful and kind of you! I can really see the metallic color in your deco tiles when I blow up the next-to-last picture. Very Nice! If I do forego a glass door and get a shower curtain, I will have the contractor put it up. My neck is too unstable to be looking up at anything! I will have no tub to stand on, either. It is good to see how well it hangs. I was afraid that it was a lot stiffer than this. It looked like it would spread back out straight, like an impolite fella doing a man-spread on the subway!

Now that my dog is getting more confused and more crippled as he approaches his 16th birthday, I am thinking that even if my contractor contacts me soon to say he is done with the commercial job he has been on for the past year and a half or so, I will still have to delay the job until my dog passes on. I don't think he could take the confusion of construction, especially since our only full bath is his approved indoors pee-place. I keep waterproof quilted mats on the floor for him there. I am not sure he could adjust to having that room out of service. I know that I don't want his elderly self peeing on the new floor and possibly missing his mat as he ages! No way! His half blind (one eye had bad glaucoma earlier this year and is blind now) and doggy dementia-ed self needs peace and routine, not a torn up floor with a drop to the basement.

So I guess I will have the soffit trim and the gutters replaced. No bathroom is getting gutted anytime soon!

    Handsome Bathroom!!!

Nancy, >>man-spread on the subway!<< LOL! I really am very pleased with it. It's tailored and unobtrusive in an already busy bathroom. I was surprised that the lining didn't grab ahold of my leg but it doesn't and it's not weighted. Sorry about your doggie :( Been there done that with an aging indoor dog. She was blind for years before we had to have her put to sleep. She had so many problems that her quality of life was non-existent. She lived to be 15.

enduring, thank you! He loves his new bathroom :) It was the last room in the house to get a redo. He liked his 1981 bathroom just the way it was <g>

How do you take it off to wash it?

I haven't had to wash it yet. If you're talking about the liner, it has snap buttons. If you're talking about the shower curtain, the rings are split. You can't tell it in the picture or even looking at it in person but they aren't solid rings. They "open". You don't have to take the rod down to remove the shower curtain.

Powermuffin, I have seen them in person and they are pretty cool. The liner begins beneath the mesh panel, where the waffle fabric begins. If you enlarge the first of Monica's photos, you can see where that dividing line is. The liner buttons onto the inside of the shower curtain. It is at a very comfortable level for working.

do you need the long or extra-long or standard for a curved shower curtain rod?
