New sectional just arrived, moving back into new FR

I thought you all might like to see how my new FR is shaping up. The dumpster left yesterday, I rolled out my new braided rug, the contractor went over the punch list this morning, and the sectional sofa arrived just now. Still a few construction things to tweak, 2 armchairs will arrive in two weeks, I have to get files in their cabinets & computers & the TV hooked up. Oh, and curtains. But it's done and we are moving back in. I'll accessorize and maybe add some more chairs or a chaise as the year progresses. Will see how the room flows first.

Very nice! Love the floor! Is there counterspace beneath those upper cabinets behind the sectional?

You must be thrilled! It is looks so good already. That sofa looks like buttery soft leather and I really like how you have the storage unit up against it like a console table.

thank you, Joanie p. & monicakm. Monica, that will be office space. It could double as a serving area.

I am loving these C tables I got at Pier One. We've been using them in our temporary TV den in the basement, and they're a great size and weight. So useful.

Everything is looking fabulous! May I ask your sofa manufacturer? I've been looking at similar styles.

ckinkopf, thanks for that link. I'd not heard of Emily Henderson! Her site looks very good. And yes, the game plan is to add more blues to go with the natural browns and the bits of green. It's an all-season color scheme.

I got these blue linen-like drapes at Pottery Barn because I was too cheap to go custom, ha ha. Wish they were darker, but good enough.

I'm getting the PB bronze rods with ball finials:

And two of these chairs will arrive soon:

They'll have the navy fabric on the right:

Love everything!!! You must be soooo happy.

I don't usually like leather furniture, but your sectional is perfect there. I think the drapes are just the right colour.

    ps wall colour?

Gorgeous room. Love all the built in cabinetry. Is this a remodel or new build?

The your sofa is so pretty. I love the color and how it echoes the color on the fireplace. I really like having the desk in that area with all that storage. Everything looks tied in well.

Thanks so much, everybody. The wall color is BM Chantilly Lace. And it's a remodel -- this room was never comfortable climate-wise, & the furnishings were long past their prime (20 year old carpeting). So we modernized the the utilitarian things & upgraded the finishes.

Wow wow wow! Love it all but especially the overall feeling - so inviting, multi functional and the light :-) I'm feeling a need for a C table or two for myself, now!

So many people have trouble with orange undertones and colors in stone from iron streaks. I love that you have embraced the color, and your sectional is outstanding! Can't wait to see the cool blues up against that wonderful pumpkin!

That's kinda what I was thinking you had going on...a serving area with a mini fridge. BTW, our "microfiber leather" sectional in the den is close to the same color. Not quite as much orange but we do have what I call "burnt pumpkin" colored walls (leathery faux finish). I know your family will enjoy the lovely room you've created!

Can you tell us about those fabulous floors please? Love the room especially like the leather sectional, I usually don't care for sectionals but this one is very nice looking. All in all very comfortable room that has some great touches, especially the built ins.

The floor is wide plank mixed oak -- both red and white oak. It's reclaimed wood. It has two coats of Waterlox original and a top coat of Waterlox satin, no stain used. I wanted a pre-scratched floor that I could spot repair when worn.

Oh, my, LOVE it all! I'm a big fan of orange-y colors, and really like how you've used them in this room (has a warm, light rustic feel, yet very updated and fresh, too, with the white, blue, etc).

    Those floors! Gorgeous!

I remembered a bit of info about the sofa. The original design has a love seat extension on the right angle end, like most sectionals have. But I didn't want that much sofa and ordered just a single seat to add on to the curved section. That made it a custom order and bumped up the already formidable price (gulp). But I was afraid that a love seat extension would cut off access to the room's corner and make it dead space.

And I didn't really want leather, but couldn't see paying for a nice piece of cloth upholstery that kitty would turn into a scratching post. She didn't scratch an old leather sofa we used to have, so I shut my eyes & wrote a check for the kitty-resistant leather sectional. It's probably the last sofa I'll ever buy. My DIL was with me when I picked it out. I told her that I hope she likes it, because she's inheriting it when I kick the bucket!
