aj madison lowered price

2 weeks ago, we ordered an appliance for 729. locally, the best we could do was 850 plus tax. took delivery today. looked on website, and aj madison lowered their price to 589. do we have any recourse? that is a 20% discount rhat we barely missed....

It can never hurt to ask. Some stores have a written policy that they will honor the new price for purchases X days before the price change. That said, I don't think AJMadison has any such policy, so don't get your hopes up.

Doesn't hurt to call and ask- and assuming you used a credit card- check you card benefits - some cards offer price protection as benefit

great idea with the credit card benefit...that may work on part of the price drop! thanks!

Why are you asking strangers if you can have your money back ?

Why not ask the company who has it ?

thanks for your response, xedos. their business office was closed for the weekend, and they dont have a generous price matching policy. i was trying to get sense if they are more flexible than their policy states. so far, no one has said that they are, so i bet they compete on price, not customer satisfaction.

i did learn that some credit cards have price match policies, so im glad i posted the question.

They're in New York and compete mainly on price. . That's all you really needed to know.

again, thank you for response, xedos. you have been such a great help! New York, i had no idea. competing on price, huh? youve really helped me piece this together. :)

Read the first page of these reviews. It might give you clue to how well your request will be received. I do see your point, good luck Aj Madison Reviews

thanks, trevor. I guess we got off pretty easy. i was shopping the price and expected to go through the manufacturer rep if we had warranty problems. I was a bit concerned about 3rd party logistics, but it was a small appliance, and i thought it could make it here undamaged. We dodged both of those bullets.

Ultimately, it was cheaper than any other options at the time. no big complaints. thanks for the perspective.

note- the 3rd party logistics was 2 guys in an Enterprise Rent a Truck. We signed AJ madison's BOL, but no delivery company name on there. they were fast, efficient and careful. but, it could of gone either way. i imagine AJ madison contracts with the cheapest.

And in exchange for that savings dolores, you forgo the warm and fuzzy handholding , liberal and easy return policy, and the security blanket that comes with " customer service " .

All that cost $$$, and some people are willing to forgo it in exchange for lower prices. The problem arises when people think they should get the "service" without the cost. i.e. - discount without sacrifice.

Glad I could be of such great service to you, I'm sure it was worth every penny you spent on it .

yes, xedos, your ability to point out the obvious and to paraphrase other posts along with an offputting personality are worth exactly what we pay you....

    ............another satisfied customer !

    and............

if the answer was so obvious why was the question posed ?????????????

hey xedos, go back and read my first response to you. read it slowly. read it out loud. That is why the question was posted.

I read it well the first time.

But, it seems the answer wasn't so obvious to you after all, and it's certainly not what you wanted to hear.

YOU'RE NOT GETTING YOUR MONEY BACK from AJ .

if you could read, youd see that i said they dont have a geneous price match policy....youd see that i said no one is indicating that aj madison is ever more flexible than their policy indicated.

now, remind me again where i said i thought id get some money back?

    um...............right here:

"madison lowered their price to 589. do we have any recourse?"

    Jog your memory now ?

And if that's wasn't what you were thinking - then you just thought everyone here would find your story entertaining or worthy of discussion ?

I'm also guessing you scored a big zero with your CC co. cause you don't have a card geared towards "price protection".

Xedos - just leave the op alone. Seriously...you got your point across. No need to be mean.

Telling someone they can't read very well is considered nice now Russ ?

As was what you first wrote here but edited ???

yea, I was being mean to you.. but it was not right either. I am in an allergy med induced haze and needed to poke the bear to wake up up.. sorry.. heh.. but it worked and I rephrased it :P

Seriously though, the op made a post and if we scare away posters because we don't think they should ask a question, we'd just be beating each other up... let them stick around longer till we thicken the skin and then you can swarm them.

Xedos, in this case, I too have to agree you need to take a deep breath. :)

OP, did you can AJ and if so, what happened? Inquiring minds want to know. :)

I'm quite calm, even when you come out swinging at me.

But , don't expect me to turn the other cheek because you have medical issues, come back with the same jab, or feel we all should have a group hug.

Trevor gets thanked for saying the same thing in a different way, yet I get chided for defending my ability to read and comprehend ? Y'all probably know what I think that breath smells like. So be it. We all choose to hang out here , and take what comes.

I do not have medical issues. Allergies are allergies. I'll say.. I was grumpy because the "medical issue" had me irritable, but it does not change the fact that I know you are a troll that comes out from under the bridge and harasses anyone that has ANY idea of saving a penny.

Yes, we all know you get what you pay for, but in this case, they were asking a question that was legitimate, whether people agree it to be or not, it is legitimate to them and you came out, as usual, swinging away and chastising the person. Everyone here said "take a breath" but they were really hoping you would simply hold it for a few weeks.

There, that blunt enough for you?

No value has been added to this thread since yesterday morning, yet there have been many posts since then. I suggest that we all stop posting here, unless you're doloreslovescats updating us on what AJMadison said.

Russ, there's a whole lot you don't know.

And I'm not against anyone trying to save a nickel or a penny.

I am against skinflints , which I'm sure you'll need to look up so you don't accuse me of talking outa both sides of my mouth.

You be as blunt as you you like. Though it's not necessary as I am very adept at reading between the lines. Unlike some round here. And since my hands are full at the moment, I can't hold anything else.

HVT - I agree with you , though you beat me to the post.

Skinflints I know and I can understand where those will drive people batty. I do not think it pertains to this.

    Have a good day all.

You accused me of being against savers. So, I told that wasn't accurate , and gave you a bit of info to help you understand why you erroneously thought that.

OP here, with a partial update. I have a Captial One CC, which does have the price protection guarantee. This benefit works more like an insurance plan than a conflict resolution service. The CC covers the cost, and they do not collect from the vendor. My CC does not have an annual fee, and since I pay the balance in full every month I do not pay interest.

I have submitted the claim. I said earlier that it *may* work on *part* of the price drop.

I had read it excludes rebates, so I already knew I couldn't claim that portion (hence the *part* of the price drop).

I am not clear what constitutes an internet advertisement for these purposes. To abide by their distributor agreement, a vendor cannot advertise a price below a certain floor. That is why once the product is in a cart, you can see the lower price. AJ Madison's price drop shows once the product is in the cart. I am not sure if a CC price protection guarantee and a distributor agreement have the same definition of 'internet advertisement' (hence the *may* work).

Ultimately, we got the appliance at the best price I could find at the time. Compared to other complaints, we are good. I will not bother to contact AJ Madison.

I also want to apologize for egging on the discussion. I will go back to lurking mode with a houseful of cats :).

Dolores - do not ever ever be afraid to make comments. Everyone has a right and we ALL get up on the grumpy side of the bed. Xedos has very good points in many things he/she says and many times we all give bad/unwanted info. It is the nature of the beast when it comes to an open forum. We all learn from all posts.

    Gl!

Quick update....my credit card company cut me a check for part of the price difference. Thank you, dwk2 for suggesting that!

After starting to read his thread I realized that this site does not have an effective administrator to prevent flaming. Many others would not have permitted what happened here.

Outstanding. Good for you for sticking to your guns!
