I grew up with hibiscus. Red, yellow, pink, orange, white. We even put the petals in salad. And if you crush the flowers and add a bit of water, ,you get an excellent bubble-making solution.

But I have never ever seen anything like your hibiscus! Good growing!

My mum's very fond of them and I was thinking about gifting her some but they are highly aphid prone....much more than adeniums

Those are beautiful. Many of the ones look like blooms from Hidden Valley Hibiscus. They have quite a selection.

I have sent seeds and wood to HVH. Most of my collection was from Barry Schuleter and dupont nursery. HVH used a lot of their cross to make new hybrids. I did get a lot from hvh with the right pedigree I was looking for. You should join the IHS on fb you will see lots of new hybrids there.

Kerry, I better not dare look into IHS. As much as I am very curious and most times my curiosity gets the better of me. I love these blooms, but my Adeniums are taking over my house. Thanks so much for the info.

I've never grown them from seeds, but I love them because they bloom all year. The colors of the flowers vary from season to season, however, and are darker, more saturated in the winter.
