Connecticut Shoreline Farmhouse Renovation Part II

Part II of our project:

I Hate Boulders!

Once the basement was secure and the concrete curb wall was dry,
I began the tedious task of drilling and splitting the boulders sticking out of
the floor into small enough chunks to carry out. Each
stone needed to be drilled with a heavy duty hammer drill and a 1-1/4" bit
so I could pour a special chemical agent into the holes that would activate and
split the boulders over the coarse of a few days. This process took weeks
because many stones needed to be drilled and split several times to make them
small enough to lay below the concrete floor height.

Once the boulders and debris were split and cleared out, the basement began to take shape. Floors were graded and the rubble walls were power washed. We plan to leave two walls exposed.
