Appliances, fixtures, lighting....any major purchases

i knew exactly what i was going to buy for each 'next step' but i put off the actual purchase til the contractor was ready for it (lead time included).

for example, i had 3 backsplash tile samples at hand, and knew that the lead time was just 3 days to get them, but didnt make the order til the counters were in. matching a sample to a sample is always a bad idea. even imaginative people have a hard time envisioning what a large amount of counter material will look like before its in.
