Cost to stain/paint stair railings and balusters

I am looking to stain my floors and stairs dark (picture 1) to match the inspiration picture (picture 2). My contractor is giving me an estimate of 2000$ just for the stairs. Is that reasonable ?

You should always get 3 estimates so you can compare prices. Having said that, it's not necessarily a good idea to use the cheapest one because you usually get what you pay for!

It can cost from 50 dollars to 100 a stair to refinish depending on what they are finished currently.

Thanks so much. I am actually not looking to replace the stairs. Just restain and paint the banister and spindles.

that's the cost for refinishing just the stairs to paint the banister and spindles probably between 1700 to 2400 depending on your area all these prices vary from area to area. where are you located?

If you're talking just labor, I'd say that's very high. I'm actually having the same job done on my stairs.
