Unfortunately, we can’t confirm the flooring style shown
here, but we wanted to provide you with information on solid hardwood to help
you determine if it’s a fit for your home. It’s difficult to answer if solid
hardwood is “better” because it depends on the location in your home (on grade,
above grade or below grade) and your home’s subfloors as well as your
    lifestyle.

Traditional solid hardwood flooring is not well-suited for
below-grade installations, like a basement or sunken living room, because of
the possibility of moisture issues. The construction of an engineered hardwood
gives it enhanced structural stability that allows it to be installed at any
grade level when a moisture barrier is used during installation.

Solid wood flooring or engineered flooring may be used over
plywood, existing wood floors, or OSB (oriented strand board) subfloors. Solid
wood flooring is not recommended for use over concrete.

Additionally, if you have kids and pets, engineered hardwood
might be worth exploring as its core is harder and denser, meaning its more
durable against your home’s wear and tear.

We’re happy to answer any questions about your space or your hardwood
    flooring plans
. We hope this information was helpful.
