You've got about 30" between the pantries and peninsula. That's tight, for your main walkway into the kitchen.

What about making the peninsula shorter...and moving the fridge to that wall? Closer to table and gives you room for a hutch at the end of the dishwasher.

Perfect for dishes and no uppers. Craigslist often has inexpensive hutches, especially if you plan to paint it. A pop of color, storage...and a good price. Win, win, win! :)

There is actually about 48 inches between peninsula and pantries. They are shallow cabs - 15in. depth I think? Thanks for the ideas - any others?

Good idea for fridge move LL. I was going to mention that you don't want the fridge butted next to the wall like that. You will have to check the measurements of your fridge door when that side is open wide enough for bins to open or removable for cleaning. I am thinking like 12" minimum???

The reason I had to use the snipping tool was because ikea planner doesn't let you save the image to your computer, just their site. So I used the snip tool to post different layouts on GW when I wanted feedback on it.

are those windows or doors or a mixture on the lower part of the LO and on the left?

I noticed the fridge right off - not good up tight against the wall.

drawers to L of stove for pots/pans.

Oh sorry. Dining room is through the door (corner) so a separate room.

Those are doors. One to front porch, one to dining area and one to a bathroom.

Which doors go where? Could you hand draw the layout of your entire floor so we can see traffic patterns and how your home flows? It helps us give you better advice.

Here is a quick idea for you. I was thinking that I would like the sink/prep area in front of the bigger window.

Also I think a lot of people like having an island so it maybe good for resale in a few years.

You could just do the upper shelves on either side of sink from fridge to the corner.

You only need to take the backsplash higher behind the range to just under the hood.

I changed the hood to a 36" over your 30" stove, as that is what they recommend for better capture of smoke/steam/grease.

Sorry didn't label what those cabs are, just picked out sizes that worked, but DW is to the right of sink. Just a thought to get your creative juices flowin' :-)

Thank you rebunky for the fresh new idea. I like this better. Will this work folks? Is the long empty wall a design no-no? Would prefer not to fill it with cabs since it will cramp things I think. Can possible add another window to that wall. Thanks for the help!!

I think this is a great plan. Unless you need them for storage, I would keep the wall bare of cabinets and add a window. More windows is always a good thing, imho. Uncluttered spaciousness, too. Will you have enough storage with this plan?
