Closingup a high entryway and creating a new office/bedroom & storage

We have a large high entryway when you enter our condo and for us it is just wasted space. I'd love to create another bedroom /office with a huge closet for storage. Any design suggestions or recommendations? Thanks in advance.

You'd removed the railing, create a wall, floors and a door(barn door might be nice).

Things to consider: higher taxes maybe, the ceiling height will it be 8 feet, you will need to get heat and air conditioning into the space, the window will be off-centered - can you live with that.

We are in a duplex up and on the main level have a few tray ceilings, so the new ceiling can mimic one of the existing trays to solve the issue that the transoms are higher than the other ceiling.

Lots of people are making useful spaces out of these vaulted areas. After all, you're paying for heating and cooling it, so you may as well make it serve some purpose other than running up the electric bill.
