Which of These Roman Tub Faucets Do Your Prefer?

last modified: 10 years ago

I am looking for some opinions on which roman tub filler to use. Unfortunately, the spout reach on my original selection was not long enough and now I'm left scrambling for an alternative.

To put everything into perspective, below are images of my vanity and tub deck. There will be a tall upper cabinet that is installed between both sinks. The images make everything look a lot darker than they actually are.

Here is the image of the sink faucets that I originally picked out. I would like to find a roman tub filler to compliment these if possible. However, if I can't find a roman tub filler that will go with the sink faucets then I may have to return them.

Okay.....here is what I have for possible roman tub fillers. The make / model is posted ABOVE each picture.

Not sure if this helps but I like the Vero, Testa, Ara, and Arzo.

If your tub is large (lots of gallons of water), consider the flow rate of the faucet before you consider the look. I have a large tub (80+ gallons), and have the Berwick -- takes a really long time to fill the tub (some of this may also have to do with what size pipe you have bringing water into the faucet). Also, I have different sink faucets (Kohler Loure') than my tub filler and while it seemed extremely important to get something perfect (or close to) when I was planning things, I don't even think about them not exactly matching at this point -- so many other elements will be in the room in the end. That said, I like the Ara and the Arzo -- probably because they have that square base like the faucet.

    rmsaustin,

With nobody in the tub, it takes 111 gallons for the water to hit the overflow drain. From the looks of it the Berwick is 20 gpm @ 60 psi while the Ara and Arzo are 20 gpm @ 80 psi.

from the pictures, looks wise, I like the tesla the best...

I like the Berwick too, tho if you are mounting it in the open space on the left, I don't know if I would like the high arch there as much... I think that one would look better if you had room on the right or in the back.

I like the Vero, and the simplicity of the Eurosmart.

Csimmons222 - The important issue is the PSI -- we bought the Berwick because 20 GPM seemed pretty fast. 100 gallon tub, 5 minutes. Unfortunately, we live in an older neighborhood where the pipes in the street are old, etc. We have only about 30 PSI to the house from the city, so the flow rate we get is much less than 20 GPM. I just thought I'd bring the issue up because I think I use the tub less than I would if it actually filled in 5 minutes. If you have 60 or 80 psi into your home, you won't have this issue...and I will be jealous.

I like the Ara and Arzo. This is just me (and may sound silly!), but with your sink faucet and sinks shaped the way they are, I wouldn't want the tub faucet to be opposite in shape (arched). I think the straight shaped ones are more cohesive with the above, and also with your cabinet handles.

We have the Vero for our tub and faucets, but I like the Ara and Arzo for your use too. Where will it be mounted? I assume centered at the head of the cutout shown.

    I like the Arzo

I like the Arzo faucets and tub fillers best for your room. I like the faucet better than the original you first pictured. I like the clean lines of it. It's not trying to be the sstar of the show but might compliment everything in your room as a whole.

I might listen to your plumber about the supply lines.

I think the faucet you selected for the vanity is too tall for that sink.

The highest point of the sink is 5 inches in the corners. The faucet is 13 inches and the spout is 11 inches. Most of the tall vessel sink faucets that I looked are somewhere around 12 to 13 inches.

I took the Kraus Unicus faucet that I originally purchased and mocked it up with the sink and the countertop earlier this evening. Personally, I think that the faucet compliments the sink and cabinetry. What are your thoughts? Please ignore the cheap light fixtures. We just put something up until we find lights that we really like.

Sorry for the dark pictures my iPhone took.

The supply lines that connect into the faucet are basically identical to the picture below. The little reading that I have done online, this seems to be somewhat of a common setup for many supply lines. Everything I read said to simply hand tighten the connections into the faucet. That there is no reason to wrench on these as you will run the risk of damaging the threads and / or O-ring.
