Consider only having one style/color of rug in the room, a 4'x2' where the couch is & then a rug that extends 4' beyond the current rug under the bed.

I would recommend either a 8x11 or a 9x12 for under the bed.

I wouldn't move the rug you already have under the couch just because the colors are too similar.

What style of rug were you looking for?

Have you considered going wall-to-wall in this bedroom? I did that last year in defiance of current decorating trends and never looked back. I love being able to walk around the bedroom with no socks and not feel cold.

Like the rug you used in the King City Project - it can keep the feet warm getting out of bed and it extends far enough to make the room warm. Assume that you would have a separate couch/sitting area across from it in this room like mine does... would you do two rugs? If so what would the other size be and would it be the same fabric or different?

I would do two rugs in a complimenting color and pattern, but not the same rug twice. In my opinion, having two different rugs that compliment eachother is a fresh new look.

If you decide to go with the damask print under the bed, I think a nice muted more subtle pattern would work wonderfully by the couch.
