Need help picking roof color for house with green siding

Hello,

I am having a terrible time picking a roof color for our house with green siding. It has white trim and black shutters/front door. I can't decide if charcoal would be better, or weathered wood. I don't want the roof to be too blah, but being that there is a lot of roof showing, I don't want it look weird with too much contrast either, which is what I'm afraid of with charcoal. Any opinions? I'm attaching a pic of the house (it's kind of an odd-looking house haha). Thanks for your help!

I think cedar or charcoal would look very nice.

    Charcoal would look fine.

You'll probably get evenly split opinions, but I think either choice would look fine. I really love the green on your house, esp with the black trim.

Best color I've seen with this siding is CertainTeed Landmark Driftwood.. Upgrade to the same color in Landmark Pro and the colors will pop more.

I also like driftwood color for your house.

I wish I had photoshop skills to see what the roof choices would look like without the shutters, and how the house itself would appear given that technically the shutters are too narrow for the double windows. I removed them completely from my home as they just didn't look right flanking the bow window and IMHO improved the facade in my case. YRMV. The green is a pretty color!

I would choose Weathered Wood, and get rid of the shutters. They are for sure to small for the windows and look ridiculous even .

i think whatever u choose, i would paint the shutters. i think the black is too stark against the green and white. IMO, the black is not enhancing the house at all. paint them white to match the rest of the house trim, remove them or install larger ones. the front arch and columns look so nice painted white, imagine what the shutters would look like painted white...

can u post a pic of each shingle color u are considering???

Haha oh my goodness, I haven't ever even thought about the shutter size, but now that it's being mentioned here, they do look kind of silly that small! Thank you all for your input, I'm happy to hear that all sound like safe bets, I'm definitely leaning more toward driftwood or weathered wood now though. I was thinking what amv03 said, it seems less heavy.. thanks for posting the pic too!!

I was actually thinking of painting the shutters white, too, after I saw a picture of a green house with white shutters and it looked very nice. We also were going to close up the gable vents (the roof will have a ridge vent so we shouldn't need the gable vents, and bats like to hang from them and make a mess on the siding). I was thinking I could do some kind of accent siding in place of the gables, in some sort of color or even a stained wood type color (if the shutters were white).

sprtphntc, here are the three colors I was considering:

    Charcoal

    Weathered wood

    And driftwood

You can go to Certainteed and upload your own photo, then put different roofing on. I believe you can even use the tool to repaint your shutters. (Used to be able to anyway, it's been a long time since I used their software.) Check it out here: Certainteed ColorView DIY

OP:, if u are still referring to this thread, i like "driftwood" for the shingles

Does anyone do metal roofs in your neck of the woods? We debated and hemmed and hawed and in the end chickened out. I wish we had given it a try. I think they add a lot of character and would be perfect for your home.

Shutters are normally sized for each window per if they were to be closed they should cover the window. The two windows close together on the second floor and far right on first floor will prevent this from taking place. The green color is beautiful! My suggestion is to remove the shutters and go with Weathered Wood.
