not sure waht you're asking. do you want to keep the dark green,the cherry and the bedding? just want to add art,mirrors,sconces, maybe a reading chair and table by the window. or do you want major changes?

We are renting so I have to keep the wall cover, flooring and my furniture. Everything else can be changed.

What I suggest is to take down the swag over the window and replace it with the same style ( if you like it), only in neutral white. Also to add more white as accessories: deco pillows, bed cover with more white in it, some art on the walls (with the white), mirrors, etc. That will lighten up the room and still let it be dramatic.

I feel like the bedding and the walls are competing. I would go with neutral bedding. Maybe white or ivory? Let the walls speak for themselves. Once you have neutral bedding, it will be much easier to find accessories to bring the whole room together.

I have blinds up, should I take everything else down or what sort of window treatment should I do. The blinds have to stay.

no, the sheers offer a soft light filter. i'd leave them if you like them.

I could put up a white sheer it might give our room a clean yet soft feeling. What are your thoughts?

That would be nice. What I recommend is to make them 3 times the width of the window. That way they won't look skimpy (sp?)..........
