I think a broken finish (ie faux finish as in ragging, etc) would look great. THen you could tie in a lot of the colors and it would also look quite soft. If you want to really cool things down, why not go stronger in a teal or shade of blue green, like the pictures in the last post. That would look smashing!

I was going to vote for revere pewter as well! I am curious what the sherwin Williams equivalent is. I am sure you could google it. Edgecomb gray would be a bit lighter but equally versatile.

If you change out those lamp shades to some more modern drum shades you would have a completely updated look.

I love my BM Balboa Mist with teal and white and cherry floors. But we can only suggest; best way to choose a color is with color samples painted on cardboard 10"by 10" or so...look at them morning noon and night on each of your four walls...then pick what looks right. You and we cannot judge colors over the internet. An definitely buy white shades for your lamps.
