I'm glad you said you're going to work with an architect. This is a series of zigs and zags and it seems like a lot of twists and turns where nothing relates to one another. I understand about having divisions between rooms, but there's a difference between having separation between rooms and making a maze to get into and out of each room.

For example, how do you enter the exercise/home office room? And a 7' hallway to get to the master bedroom suite? What is the 7' x 6' room off the master closet without a door? Do you really want a powder room that you can practically see into from the breakfast area? Honestly I could go on and on. You need an architect.

Was this your inspiration plan? Summerfield's famous plan, 2nd comment.

I'm seeing a whole bunch of corners that are doing nothing but drive up the building complexity and costs.

And a rats-maze of rooms that jut into other rooms connected by hallways with corners for no reason.

This fails the "imagine your daily life" walkthrough at so many points.

What sort of site do you have for your house? Do you have an unlimited budget?

Your time with an experienced architect should be very helpful. Presently, you have what appears to be an "assembly of rooms" which just don't work very well overall. It's virtually impossible to make useful comments online--there's just too many needed improvements. Take your "wants vs. needs" list and your adjacency list to your architect, talk them through and begin anew. You'll be glad you did! Good luck on your project.

Bring this up to some semblance of accepted graphic standards; frankly it is a jumble of lines and is not imparting the plan with any clarity.

There seems to be a very closed off kitchen/family zone. Maybe this is the custom in your culture.

The warren of closets and tiny rooms reminds me of the floorplans in large NYC apt buildings in the 20's.

Chuck this in the trash and pay an architect. It's unlivable and unconstructable. And expensive to even try to get it ''cleaned up''. Start over entirely.

I'm having a hard time interpreting what everything is: I can't identify the purpose of some rooms, so I'm not even sure what I'm seeing, but I have one main thought at this point: The rooms have no flow, no logical connection to one another, no organization that makes sense. Instead, the rooms seem to be tossed together haphazzardly.

Not good. Do you do your own dental X-rays or make your own suits or rebuild your own transmission? Do you do everything at a similar high skill level, or are there some other things that you don't do as well? Not everyone can have a good sense of spatial relationships, proportion, and an organizing idea. What are your talents or strengths? Work to those, and employ an architect to create your home.
