Best type of flooring for MH bathrooms?

I looked through the archives and couldn't find a direct answer to this question. I have a small main bath (tub/shower surround combo, toilet, one sink, maybe 2-3 ft of counter space) and a tiny half bath (toilet, sink). My MH is a 1979 SW. Rather amazingly, all the fixtures in both bathrooms are original to the house and still in good working condition! This includes the linoleum floors. Nevertheless, I hope to fully remodel both bathrooms. My question is about flooring. I'm going to redo all the flooring in the whole house (14x56 w/ 2' pop out in LR), including a major beefing up of the subfloors. I was leaning towards vinyl plank floors pretty much throughout, but now am questioning the wisdom of doing it in the bathrooms. I can only afford to do this once, so I need to get it right the first time. What is the best type of flooring to use in a MH bathroom? What type is least likely to cause problems down the road? A related question: should I do the new bathroom floors at the same time I do the flooring in the rest of the house, or should I wait until I remodel the bathrooms and do it then? Thank you in advance for any advice you can share with me!

I also agree with one sheet of vinyl for bathroom floors. You use silicone caulk around the perimeter and each fixture/cabinet to get a completely sealed flooring surface, with the caulk hidden behind the baseboard at the walls. My entire house, including the laundry room, is laminate - except the 2 bathrooms which are vinyl.

Thanks for the advice, roof35 and Cathy! You confirmed my theory. It just seems like one big piece, properly installed, would have to be better in a bathroom because there are no spaces between planks or tiles for water to seep into. Not that I throw water around my washrooms all the time, but things happen. Cathy, can I ask why you went with laminate over vinyl and what laminate you chose? Did you use the same pattern throughout your house, or did you put different types in different rooms? Roof35, I think your floor looks great!

My house laminate is Mannington Natural Wisconsin Walnut throughout. I like it because it has tones from very light natural to medium brown, with enough red in some boards to match my cinnamon maple kitchen cabinets. My bathroom floors are still the original upgraded vinyl in the MH home. No bathroom laminate for me! The bathrooms are both a wide pine plank pattern that is very realistic. It looked wonderful with the carpet when there was vinyl in the kitchen.

Debbie - I'd do vinyl sheet in the bathrooms - and laundry area. Here at hd and lowes they have end rolls somewhere in the flooring depts. usually they are about 10 x 12 or x15 that sell for less than $100.00 depending on size. I usually check there because down the road I plan to have my bathroom floors changed also. so far, they've been too shiny for me - I don't like shiny flooring.

With your small bathrooms, you could probably do both with one of those end rolls. for me it'd be a close call because 1 of my bathroom is 7 x 13. The smaller one i'd need a piece about 5 x 3.

Do the bathroom floors when you do the bathrooms.

Thanks cathyyg and desertsteph! You both, and roof35, have convinced me that sheet vinyl is the way to go. I'm supposed to go out to the house on Thursday afternoon to measure and take pics. I've been really sick, so not 100% sure I can make it, but I'm sure going to try! I was looking at some sheet vinyl earlier today on the Internet, and there is some nice stuff out there! Thanks for the tip on end rolls at L's /HD, desertsteph! I'm all for saving $$ wherever possible. I'm going to steal some space from the master BR and put in a walk in shower. I can't use a tub or a shower in a tub. I need a walk in shower that I can get my shower chair into, or ideally, build a bench in it. I haven't really thought about or chosen a color scheme/look for the master bath yet, but I'm pretty sure I want to do a.kind of retro black and white in the main bath. I'd like to do black & white squares for the floor; I'm sure I can find some sheet vinyl with that pattern. I'd like to do it on the tub wall as well, then paint the rest of the walls white. I'm thinking of a black comfort height toilet (height is good for my hips) and a white claw foot tub. HD has a "petite" one that will fit. Then a black cabinet with drawers, a white sink and countertop. I can put in a small black baker's rack for additional towel storage, plus a scented candle or two on the top shelf and a couple of knick knacks. I also need to put in a new fan--the current one isn't functional. :-)
