Need Help. Large Jade Possible rot??? Root Pix, potting media
So after trimming a few sections of this large crosby jade about ten days ago. A few of the places i pulled leaves off have turned black. There is new growth in other places. I obviously should have tried to clean more of the soil off before repotting it now i know this and will be doing it to all of my plants.
I had to use my hands in a few places as there was soo much stuck in the bottom and large sections of clay? or hardened soil. then i tried to wash out anything else probably not the best if it is rotting and a waste of time as i dont have the water pressure to really clean it out. Im sure there is some still in there should i try to clean it more??? I placed it under a growing let to let it dry a bit should i leave it there for a while or repot soon?

9 years agolast modified: 9 years agoi touched some of the spots on the smaller branches likely where i pulled leaves off and they just fell of to reveal green likely the dying of pieces left odd to me they are black though.There are few leaves that look to have dried up wrinkled and black on top. Im curious if the roots look ok
For potting mix I have some already mixed pumice, turface, lava rock, compost, fir bark, pro-mix bx mycorrhizae
or i can remix some with this bag of blackgold cactus mix i just got some the other day and repotted a few smaller plants and it looks pretty good over most other store mixes and a bag of pumice, turface, lava rock.

9 years agolast modified: 9 years agoHi Dave, looks fine to me. I normally let cuttings/plants dry for a couple/few days before planting/repotting. I pruned/trimmed a Crosby's Compact recently and some parts showed black spots but after a few days it started to show some growth. I am sure you get more advice/feedback from more experienced Crassula/Jade growers and enthusiasts. Good luck with it!

9 years agoGood advice above, Dave. My plant didn't have roots as nice as yours, but I did as suggested above and all is fine new. It's putting on new growth.
