I'm a great fan of the island countertop, whether it is actually calacutta gold marble or something very similar. However and I do apologize to the designer ahead of time, here is what I think right off: this finished kitchen is what used to called a "hodgepodge" and now I guess it would be referred to as perhaps a "mashup" . Whatever the label the final look is that of someone incapable of making decisions, someone who lacks an interior "STOP" button, of someone suddenly being hit with an overwhelming amount of opportunities to finally get whatever it is that they had once loved and loved some of it very much, and now has to accept they can't do it: they are unable to connect one concept with the second concept; one look with the other great look, though gee it is a fact isn't it that that other look is very different in a way but, then, am I capable of knowing whether it's in fact a good way to be different and also to know if it's okay to be that different in the right spot; and gee how many more of these design choices must I decide, because frankly even though the room's palette is limited to neutrals something does seem a little off, like maybe those milk glass vases belong somewhere else but what if we really did rush the decision about the wood ceiling, or maybe I am feeling wrong only because the wall paint that it was I who really did insist upon, no doubt there, now just strikes me as too, too pinky pink for a modern-rustic, industrially-derivative loft style chef's kitchen, which is sort of what we were going for.
