Blanco vs Ikea Farmhouse/Apron Sink

Anyone have an opinion on which is better? The Ikea double sink retails for $312. The Blanco, my cabinet place can get for $750 + tax, which evidently is quite low for a Blanco. I know Blanco is great quality but I haven't heard any complaints about the Ikea. Any reason we should NOT go with the Ikea/cheaper option? The only thing I don't like about the Ikea sink is that it's divided. Would prefer a single. But the Ikea is also 37 inches and the Blanco is 33. Any thoughts?

Friends installed the Ikea Domsko 3 years ago and it looks brand new, they are very happy with it.

I have a Blanco Diamond Super Single in white. I wanted a farm sink but it wasn't in budget. I don't miss it at all, and I'll never have a double sink again unless it's two 33" sinks. ;). It's amazing laying cutting boards and cookie pans down in the sink.

I don't see any reason to spend an extra $400 unless you have a really compelling reason to prefer the Blanco. The one reason I can see is what you said about the IKEA domsjo being divided. Their single bowl is only 25" and their double bowl is two bowls of 18.5" each. So if you honestly use huge things like cookie sheets a lot, like Amber, or other over-sized items, then you might be unhappy with an IKEA. For me, the 25" single bowl Domsjo will meet 97% of my needs, and that's close enough. I can use the $400 difference elsewhere in my kitchen.

So I think you should think about what you cook/bake on a regular basis, and make your decision based on that. Hope this helps!

I think you should double check the prices of the blanco sinks online...

If the Blanco you're referring to is the Single Diamond Silgranit, depending on the color amazon is selling them for low to mid $300. HomePerfect.com has the 36in Anthracite for $280.

Personally, I think the Blanco looks much better than the Ikea Domsjo and you can undermount the sink unlike the Domsjo.

Thanks everyone! I actually do wash baking sheets and other large things a lot, so maybe I should go with a single. Avocadogirl, I was looking at the Cerana but I'll check those out!

Are you looking for a white sink? Be aware that the white silgranite that I saw was not a pure white, rather it was speckled with gray, if that's something that matters to you. Also, all the ikea single basins that I saw had the attached drainboards, which aren't my preference because I hate the idea of cleaning them out.

Have you seen the domsjo? I liked it DH said NO he really disliked it. I have the blanco silgranit super single so far it holds all pots and pans and is easy to clean. I would not go back to a high maintenance sink.

Not the farmhouse sinks. Single domsjo:

Writersblock, I must have missed that one. Maybe I was looking at the larger ones?

The only larger farmhouse is the double domsjo, which has a bumpity faucet deck, but no drainboard:

Maybe you were thinking of their stainless sinks, many of which do have drainboards with runnels.

No, the faucet deck was what I was thinking of! What are those bumpy things called?

A big pain if you're trying to drill extra holes. :-)

I guess they serve the same purpose as runnels, giving water that drips there from your sponge or soap container or whatever you might set there a chance to drain back into the sink.

But the main purpose of the wide faucet deck on both those domsjo sinks is to fill the space between the sink and wall so that it's more of a straight cut (easier for DIY) to install the sink, instead of having to mess around with templates and all.
